Dude, where's my SPOT?

Made it home a bit ago. Good ride, a bit dusty though.

I did notice that my SPOT messenger decided to stay out on the trail tonight, so if anyone is riding on Pacifico tomorrow keep an eye out for an errant SPOT.

Good ride! Unfortunately I cam home with atwo beers in my bag. So I did what any self repsecting drunk would do. Sat in the backyard and drnk them and then two more. Hit the sack around 3am.

See you all next month on the Saturday night ride

mark your calendars...

so next month the full moon is on August 5, so the nearest SATURDAY is August 8.

we'll iron out the details, but something similar to the usual pre-ride , dinner, after dinner ride will happen but I would like to try and do an all nighter.
not too much slab though, so maybe hit ALL the forest roads inthe ANF in one night!?!

I had it in track mode. The last message was at Newcomb's at 10:42 pm. Nothing after that. Yes, I have the insurance, so it should be covered.

Ride Report !!! Ride Report !!! Ride Report !!!

this is my version of what happened on the night of July 10, 2009.

geared up at work right after my last client, i was worried that i would be late, so i texted Dunerat.

i race through L.A.(hollywood) traffic through Echo Park, up highway 2 up the Angeles Crest only to see cars and cars and more cars parked .....

i do the only thing a motorcyclist, especially a late-to-the-party motorcyclist would do, i ride on the tiny shoulder past the cars of ppl camped out. i ride up to a sheriff thinking they'd be pissed, but i asked if i could ride on the shoulder because my bike was overheating and they gave me the go ahead.
i knew there had to be some kind of accident up ahead, but how far? i don't know, i'll find out soon enough.
a few corners later, i see Wzltech and FMFpunk on the side with their helmets off.
they tell me ppl keep turning around and coming back down.
i'm ready to roll, so i continue on the shoulder with Wzltech a few cars behind me and FMF a few more cars behind him.
the accident............... a single car hit a guard rail with minimal front damage.
no injuries, no death, no blood, nothing. we waited for this?
FMF gets behind the break in traffic, so Wzltech waits for him and i go ahead to Lynx.

YUP !!!

they got stuck right in front of that accident and was heckling the cops to clear the road and let ppl pass. hahaha

then Wzltech and FMF show up

and SITO was hangin with the drunks(Marty is out, whoa dude, slow down)

after BSin for awhile and hydrating on brews, we hit the trail

next , break time at Monte Cristo road/mid Lynx

SITO goes straight through, he's hungry.

after refreshments i was ready to go and the guys wanted to have 12 more ounces of liquid courage, so i ride ahead.
on the way up the rocky section of Lynx above Monte Cristo i hit a series of rocks that have tried to throw me down before, but this time they got me.
BAMMM i!! i go down on my right shoulder/head.
haha i get up dust myself off and pick the bike up and ride off.
didn't feel a thing. the Jack from earlier did it's job.
(i feel it now, sore shoulder. haha

beautiful sunset on top of Lynx

so we make it up to Mill Creek and notice SITO had left his empty with a pine cone on it to leave his mark.

more refreshments(no pics, sorry)

over Pacifico, i pass a jeep/truck and tell them about the 4 guys behind. they thank me(come to find out later, they almost took out Rob and yelled at him that there were TOO many of us, hahahahaha)

i get to Newcombs. YAY FOOD !!!

these FF's were there.

then this guy was hangin with his COFFEE ?!?!?!?!

Rob shows up

some bikes

yeah, what's up

this guy stole my beer

and they hung outside soaking up the bugs

this guy was HUGE

a good dinner and met Noel's ladyfriend.
it was getting late, SITO peeled off, something about being a dad.

Noel stayed behind to hang with his lady.

Cathy was just there for the testosterone.

so that left Wzltech, FMFpunk, tbarstow, NMBMN, KLAMMER, and myself.

we raced over Chilao and Pacifico

this is why we ride

whoa

here are some dark pics, i tried to get across the mountain pics of the guys headlights.

mill creek break.
the group was showing wear.
i was thinking about how busy my day was ahead of me and that i would maybe get 4 - 5 hours of sleep.
FMF was done.
Wzltch followed.
Rob pleaded with us to do Lynx backwards. "have another beer". ha

we chilled a bit, then hit the slab and had an interesting race down avoiding yellow line crossers.
there was an impromtu party on Angeles Forest Hwy on one of the lookouts with some mexi dudes and a floodlight set up. tripped me out.

took a skyline pic. was a clear WARM night in the mountains, had to of been in the upper 70's up there.

made it home safe and sound.

great ride and a slightly mellower feel than previous nights.

next month we're gonna start doing Saturday night rides.
