Still in Customs?

Obviously they are still stuck in Aduanna (Customs). I think part of the reasons why Peru's economy lags so far behind much of the rest of the Americas is the Peruvian Aduana and their outrageous rules and tariffs. I have imported a lot of computers to Peru each representing a new job for someone there. You would think that they would welcome them with open arms. Instead of helping us they completely went out of their way to make it dificult. You can bet that their bikes are sitting in a warehouse somewhere accuring fines and fees each day they are not bailed out and the duty is 50% of value and going higher every day. If they were smart they somehow got them sent back on a boat to the US. A better trip plan would have been to drive them to Peru and then ship them to the US where there would be no import duties to pay.

Question Last seen

I rode with the group from Macara,Ecuador at the Peru border to Cuenca. They were here a few days in Cuenca and left Dec 18 for Quito. Their plan to take a boat out of Esmereldas,Ecuador fell through. I found a guy who handled the aduana and the bikes shipped air Dec 19 to Panama City, Panama. They were talking about flying out either Dec20 or Dec22 and that was the last I heard.

Hey everybody!!!!!!!! Hey Dave, wow, what a trip. It was very hard to get time to post pics and reports with our fast paced timeline. I'll start from where I left off and post. Dave, thanks so much for the effort you put in with us. Your graciousness was greatly appreciated. It was a pleasure to meet ya. I wanna be like you when I grow up!!! You got me thinkin' about the orange color also!!! I hope to make it back to Cuenca to hang out on the corner in Macara again and get tanked. That was fun. We met the Seguins. Those guys are cool. I promise I'll give the update guys. It was nice meeting you guys. I need to catch up with where you guys are. Wherever it is, good luck!! We are home now and we are all o.k. We had more problems but we made it. Thanks to those that responded when we needed help in the states. Much love!!! Be back soon with some great stuff, I promise.Later..Moses!!!

In Lima, finally out of customs, and ready to ride!!!!!!

Well, I'm ready anyway??????

We say good-bye to our hosts and new friends Ruben and Ann-Marie. Thank you for everything. We couldn't have done it with out you.

And we say good-bye to Chico the pug.

&ampampnbsp
&ampampnbsp

Leaving Lima, heading south to Nasca.

&ampnbsp
&ampnbsp

&nbsp
&nbsp

Watch for the smoke!!!! For a second it got a little hairy!!!

We're getting hungry so we stop to eat. The place has no food. We decide to go back in to a town we rode thru but now the battery is fried in Jeff's 650. So we tow it to the town and some how the only battery we can find fits. Ken has to take it across town to get it charged. So we wait.

I'm towing Jeff while passing this!!!

These guys and their mother owned the shop with the battery. Much love guys!!! You saved our ass.

So it's getting dark and we're not going to make Nasca. The fellas and the guy who we originally flagged down for help finding the battery escort us to a cheap hotel.

They take us to a gem. It's a clean hotel with gated security and a strip with restaurants and all. It's in Ica. Turns out, it's where people from all over come to ride the sand dunes by buggy and sandboard down them. I think it was the largest sand dune in the world. We check in, unpack, and go eat!!!

I own a German Rottweiler, and I saw Rotts everywhere on this trip. Next morning I'm first to get to the bikes. I come around the corner and see this. This is Tyson gaurding the bikes.

So off to Nasca, but first Jim wants some shots by the dunes. The backdrop was great!!!

We gotta see how they look!!!

Fairwell Ica!!

On to Nasca, I was there. The area is hot, dry, dry, dry, and vast but amazingly beautiful. The Nasca lines are all around us at this point. To the right is where you would see all the small airplanes flying giving tours for people to get areial views of the lines.

On the side of the road was a four story tower that costs one sole to go up in. In the previous pic, it's down the road on the right. You can barely see it. One man for a little more would give you a brochure and tell you about the lines. We passed on his offer. Another man was sitting at a table with a bunch of painted rocks for sale. We passed on that as well. Here's me with one of the drawings off to the right of the tower. It's the frog. Goggle it!!!

As you leave Nasca heading to Cusco, you start to gain elevation out of the desert. How gorgeous is that!!!!
