How about reorganizing the ride forums?

Heya,

I was thinkun - how 'bout a ride forum loosely organized by geography? Something like: "I'm gonna be in the Redmond, OR area soon and want to see what the good rides are" - you get the point. I have a few recommendations and warnings to post re: ADV-riding in the Puget Sound area and feel that riders on the east coast of the US (or the UK or South Africa) probably aren't interested.

Just my .02...

If by dirt you mean single track and total off-road, then a separate forum might be warranted.

Otherwise, keep 'em together. Isn't that the point of some of these bikes -- the ability to do both?

Also, it may be a little early. Wait till it gets a little more crowded in here.

One forum. I get confused. Just got back from visiting my spouse/offspring on vacation for the summer in PA (Pocono mtns) and it should have been a 250 mile ride home but it was actually 480. Why?

Because there was dirt to be rode. REAL dirt, logging roads, old mining trails, whitewater access trails, things that used to be roads (like 150 years ago when they were used for icebox ice pond access).

GPS and Topo maps make it all possible, and about 3 days of planning.

SO, pavement, dirt roads, free-riding...whatever. One forum for now.

First off, welcome aboard, Abhorred. Thanks for the vote, and it counts just as much as every other vote...except for baldy's, cuz he's got the keys to the caddy.

Your avatar is cool, but I think you stayed on that Pritiken diet just a bit too long...

I think it should stay the way it is, for now. It cuts down on the searching around.
Most people here probably ride both anyways. I do! And on one bike too!

I agree a bit with Marc. Geography is interesting. I am planning to go to the area around Spain next summer, how do I for example find a person to give me a few tips for the way down?! Or ridereports about similar trips?!

Personnally, I really don't mind it the way it is. We're getting so many forums, it takes longer to cycle through all of em'.

OTH, if there's a felt need to branch off, or if folks are tired of local, or one day ride reports, then why not just two forums, one for Long Distance, or "extended rides" and one for Short Rides. It doesn't matter whether they are on road or off-road or both to me. I like to see intersting country, no matter what.

So I guess my vote is for other!

I lean towards geographic location, but that could get hairy with too many sub-categories.

Maybe have one with pictures, and another without pictures.
