Paved route from ~~Meridien, Ms to Robbinsville, NC

Traveling from New Orleans to R'ville in mid Oct, done it a few times. This time we have a couple of days to get from around Meridien (Tupelo, Philadelphia, environs) to Robbinsville and are looking for something different from slab or Al 69. We'll likely come back thru N Ga. Very familiar with the roads around robbinsville.

Prefer paved, but county roads would be fine. Looking for interesting, pretty, fun, historic, etc.
I think once we get to east of Chattanooga/Cleveland it's pretty much dart board territory, but how to get there from Mid Mississippi and have a good ride?
Thanks in adavance

John
