Good job!
Did this end up being a solo ride?

Doesn't seem to matter if I try to plan something like this in advance or go impulsively - something always shoots it down. One of these days...

Colds suck. The cure "they" won't tell you about: convenience store sausage dogs, beer and a cigar. Kills all that nasty shit floating around in you.

Today was a "prep for planting" day here. Wanted to ride with you for this one, just couldn't. Must be the weather but the weirdos were out in my neighborhood. First it's a dude walking down the street in a full set of very colorful pajamas around 2pm then another strange fellow grooving to his own rhythm (practically break dancing) while smoking joints as he meandered down the middle of the street.

Another nice x-border grab

It's Schnabba's Triumph. He's got a million of 'em. All very worthy of being jealous of too.

(Schnabba: just teasing. I think the 800XC is possibly one of the most perfect bikes being sold today. Wish I'd have thought to see how much they were willing to deal when I was shopping... )

Thanks tastroman! It was an impulse buy - after trying it out, for some reason, it just "fit". I wanted to like the sprint GT, but the tiger fit like a glove..... they were willing to drop the price to move inventory, throw in a lot of accessories (which I immediately sold on ebay).... so I'm down to 2 bikes only now.... tired of paying taxes on them. I miss the bonneville - that was just plain raw fun. All the problems with a finicky carb bike.... but that was great!

This one is more comfortable on longer trips, and behaves a lot better. Not as much of a personality, but it's always ready - get on it and go! (tires are always at the right pressure, no coolant leaks, does not use oil at all - she just works). The 2006 tiger was just as trouble free. If it wasn't so darn tall - I would have kept that one (it scoots down the road almost as well as the 1050 - same engine case and cylinder head - it was a very late production 955, so they used a lot of the 1050 bits and pieces.... and the power was very close to the 1050). Plus it had that awesome 19" front wheel and better headlights, a more comfy seating position, better luggage.... but I digress...

Since it was a solo ride, I added another hour and a half to the ride, and went on over farther east than originally planned. Great roads all over. I've ridden a lot of the ones close to the border, this was nice to see a few new ones.... even this time of year, some good things to see. Many of the farms have freshly plowed fields - getting ready for spring planting already! (the NC farmers are a bit more lazy - they haven't done much of that in my area yet).

I stopped in a lot of places (saw some new stuff! Great ride!) - but in the end, this place is nifty enough. And I have a lot of different bike pictures in front of it.... today, it's this one.

This is what it is....

In case there are questions - this is on display right next to the concrete structure it was removed from.

I was going to run for that from Raleigh, but the weather monkeys couldn't get their stories straight... All three I checked had pretty disparate guesses, but all had it raining here, there and everywhere in between early. Of course, I haven't seen a drop yet so far...

Thanks LD & wb57. Had a great ride and didn't find those much talked about sprinkles until the home skyline was in sight.

Here's the next location if your up to the challenge! I don't know if Hew Haw did a "Saaaaalute" to Doodlum, population 32, but it sure fits the criteria!

location

came in from the north on 619. when I left I headed south into, I guess, downtown Purdy. Saw a lady filling up her cage with gas, spun around in the lot to ask directions, she looked up with a lit cigarette in her mouth. gotta love those country folk .
