Baltimore is closer than the current NC Tag....hmm...maybe a capture of the MD TOR might be on my list soon as well.

New tag - 2/28/12

Not far from the previous tag. You will hit some tar/chip road, but it's in great shape. If visibility is limited when you go, once you're inside the Park, I did notice some (not making this up) moss on the road. Didn't seem to present any sort of problem, but if it's night and/or wet when you go, be aware that it's there.

Tag pic:

for reference:

If it's locked up when you get there, although I didn't see any gates, this shot is fine. Also, here's your clue:

Me likey...especially the part about it being so little traveled that there is moss on the roads. It's all about the adventure.

Way to go WB!

Beautiful park. I'm finding a bunch of places around that area that I'm going to spend some time at this spring/summer.

Cruise through, never take your helmet off if you don't see what you're looking for and you don't have to spend a millisecond talking to the plaid sport coat fellers. In and out of most of them in under a minute.

nice tag! I love riding all those roads around the two lakes there, but I need to venture farther afield - I rarely need the GPS anymore to get there and back. That's such a fun area of virginia! (although I do want to get back to the marion / saltville area too - I really did like some of the hikes near there - plus saltville was pretty cool, for historical reasons).

Nice tip on the boots - both my SIDI boots are nice and water tight, as are the Oxtar (now some other brand). Never again with cheap footwear - cold wet feet can be miserable on a long haul.

Not a Tag

Seems I went to the wrong Stateline Baptist, oh well, it was a nice day for a ride. This one's outside of Danville Va.

This is NOT a new tag.

That was the first one I found, too. Then I googled the cemetery, that was the right one.

The entire Blue Ridge area - north to south - is great for riding. I know a lot of the roads around Blacksburg and Roanoke from years past and visiting them a good bit over the last couple years, can tell you they haven't changed much.

My GPS for the bike is a sheet of folded up paper in my jacket pocket. Although I have had to use the one built into my phone a couple times, but it's pretty sketchy.

I found a handful of them. The satellite views got me there.

For the longest time I did printed maps in my tank bag. And for the longest time (since 1998) I had a blue Garmin Etrex Legend that I would take to the field. It never clicked to use the Garmin with a motorcycle until just this winter.

Don't know why I never thought of that before. (DUH)

Spent $30 on a universal handlebar mount and I have been set free by my 14 year old GPS unit. On the fly location fixes on the street map are fantastic when you don't know where you are My GPS won't do on the fly routing and I have to upload local streets depending on the trip I'm taking but hey...it's over a decade old and still going strong.
