Bazinga! Good grab and new tag! Glad I could brighten someones day via tag. I was mechanized for a few years but connected when I saw this painting. The more I get away, the more I reminisce. After I passed the yards on my way back home, I figure I would need to return so I can gander at the ships some more.

I was stationed on Big E as the Auxiliaries Officer from '08 to '12. I was pretty stoked when I saw the beach mural as the tag!!

I guess this can't be the actual tag though as you have to access the Naval Base then have to risk being arrested taking the pic.

Instead I'll use this one:

If you look at the mural tag shot there's a submarine in the lower left area of the picture. I started out in the Navy on an old Missle Boat (USS BENJAMIN FRANKLIN SSBN640), so I thought this one would be appropriate. I started my sea duty career on subs and finished on the Big E.

The sail is in a park right next to the oldest shipyard in the United States. The yard first opened on 1 November 1767 and has been doing ship repair ever since. The park is accessed off "the 16th Presidents Street" in Portsmouth.

in old town Petersburg, you find this place. be sure to walk around it and read up on some history of trade in that part of the state. neat little place

That was also an old Commuter Tag site before they added the mural. Can't remember who posted, or grabbed it.

I don't think it was me in either instance, but will certainly go through my archives to see if I can find it.

One "local" could almost spit and hit that thing.

Just passed by there , dropped off a chik fil a sandwich to my best friend thats on the burgs fire department not on the bike though .
