Really ... I'll bet there was too much bitching about it not working correctly

Mine actually seems to work fairly well.

Do I get a new owner's manual with that "upgrade/delete feature"

Makes you wonder what they might be able to add in terms of function if they so desired ... I'd really love to see battery voltage - some of the other BMW OBCs report it.

I'd swap DTE for battery voltage!

Mine works fine.

I think some owners just don't RTFM.

I think the bottom line is that the OBC adds all the things that should come stock. Anybody else amazed the you have to pay extra for a fuel gauge, etc?

I'm not sure. My last bike (695 montser) only had an idiot light for fuel. So even the mere option of a gauge is a huge step up.

U.S. models have current outside temp, avg mph, avg mpg, current mpg, miles until empty and gear indicator. I don't think you can add it later either because the plastic isn't cutout for the little computer screen thing. I can't imagine not having it since I love buttons and doo-dad crap.

I'm not sure if the F800 differs, but for the 2011 F650 the mileage functions on the OBC are:
Distance driven since reaching reserve level
Average consumption in MPG
Current consumption in MPG
(Page 23 of the owners manual)

There is no reference to the >XXXX to empty that I've seen for the pre 11 models.

YEAH!!!
That is different....
Other append commenting that the latest firmware would kill the
"miles to empty" selection are probably accurate....
