I am just getting old and not really pro but will try my best

What are symptoms? What did you check already (spark, fuel, carbs, pump?)
How does it look, it does not "catch" at all, like no even spark or it just wouldnt start despte spark is there and spark plug is "wet" after few cranck turns, e.g. fuel getting to engine?

Anyone seen a Fuel Pump membrane for sale. As I thougth it's hard to find. Suzu dealer in Estonia can't provide me with that. BUT they have a whole pump on the shelf for 90 Euros.

I have a deadline end of june. Because in July I need the whole of my tanks.
Cheaper pumps are easy to find but "A MEMBRANE SHOP's" address would be highly appriciated.

Hey hey! Good to see you here. Its funny, SA is a multi language country but most people speak Afrikaans or English. When Dannydoy (you have to explain this one) chatted to me on Saturday we started off in English and ended up speaking Afrikaans. I am too much of a ding-dong and suggested he joined up here and speak to you guys with all the knowledge.

PS. Welcome!

You probably heard that already, but is the battery ok? It won't start if it's a little ok.

And the Idle screw. If you have turned it on too much, then the starter won't be able to turn the engine round. I turn it out so that it doesen't toutch the valve and then turn it in about one round. Point is that it's easier to turn engine round when the throttle valve is closed, but it has to be a little bit opened to start the engine.

As for the battery. I have used a charger that has the start function. Just don't boil your battery. The electrics is so simple that you can't harm it with the start-charger.

yip battery seems fine .i could prob swing the motor for a minute before it starts running down.something tells me it must be something to do with valve timing.also,a friend who has a xr500 said that i must check the key on the magneto.maybe its sheared off and advanced or retarded the spark timing???

Try checking your compression, and/or the valve adjustment.

If all seems ok, but the bike doesn't start, then it could be the timing (or sparkplug wire's alignment incase of more than one cylinder).
But you wouldn't believe how well the rotor is installed on the cranckshaft. I would believe more that someone has installed the camchain wrong and since then the engine hasn't starter... Is it possible? To check it you have to remove the top cover of the engine unfortunately.

Have you tried just changing the sparkplugs, maybe they are really old.

Also!!! We have a tradition, whenever a bike doesen't start we take a fun ride with a car infront and a bike toed in the back. 90 percent of the times the bikes start. 10 percent of the times the bikes fall. Once even a bike with the camchain installed two teeth wrong started behind a car - it didn't run too good though

I think he means the switch of the deco lever has been bypassed not to interfere starting.
