The bolts and spokes again are galvanized. The frame, body parts and engine parts sintered and the wheel eloxed.

The exhaust system has yet to be resolved.

If not, on SR41/42 there's only one in the left carb.
This brass part is needed for cold start only.

Hi Lars,

No, my carbies are stock. So your post is welcome relief. I assumed that the post fell out because:

1. I heard something metallic fall, and
2. There was no post.

So I'm guessing that there was something else that fell, probably a washer from the hex-head/socket head bolts that I've been using. I'll put this bike back together, with the new O rings and see how we go.

BTW, should there be a plug there instead?

So close and yet so far.

Thanks.

Shane

DRhino,
Being ex Army I hate camoflage paint jobs. Having said that, your paint job is so well thought out, eg: SR41A727 on the side covers. And the Rhino on the tank. Also the rugged, stone chipped style of lettering. I got sucked in. You have a great imagination and I think it's great. Congratulations.
Cheers.

Shane,

If there's no tube, a plain countersunk hole is in the body.
I can take later this day some pictures of SR41 carbs w/o bowl.

Cheers,
Lars

Lars,

What you describe is exactly what I've got, so I'm sure I'm good to go to with these. I'll test them with a gravity tank whilst they are off the bike.

Thanks, will keep you informed.

sup' guys :)

I'm a 77 000 kms 93 DR8 owner.
I use it everyday to commute and on weekend to do a bit of road/offroad... :)
this post decided me to mod it a bit ... mainly because the whole offroad thing fucked lots of the bodywork (nose and tank mainly).
I should receive a 25l acerbis gas tank soon ... I may buy a new fork if I find a nice deal ... but I'm not in a hurry :)

so, hello from south france :)

amazingly i actually really like that paint job!

How are we all doing chaps and chapess's?

Ive finally resurrected my dr big out of the rain and gloom in the garden and its being sorted!! I might even ride it more than once this time hahaha

oh it appears my dr big is desirable, some thieving fnunts decided to try and rob it. Throught he miracle of something or other, something made me go to the window at 2am in the morning to see my big being trundled down the garden. Needless to say 2 16 year old teenagers didnt expect to be chased down the road by a naked almost 30 something. To then see him run back, jump in a bloody massive pickup. Alass I lost them at that point, but thankfully there were some roadworkers doing late night... roadworks.... so i asked them. Personally I would think that having a naked man in a pickup asking if they had seen 2 boys running would be perfectly acceptable... but anyway they pointed me in the general direction. Unfortunately i lost them :(

Following day however i was parking up outside my house and saw two teenagers walking down the road, i stayed in my car until they got close and overheard one saying that he had been chased down the road last night by a guy... so a quick "OI YOU $%$*%$" and a few good slaps and knees in the stomach later, the situation was resolved :) Since then. .No trouble!

The police were absolutely useless. They wanted me to leave the bike abondoned where it was in the woods for "2-3 days whilst we get a forensics team out there" eerrrrr no!!!!!
