An anecdote from a close friend and relative, he reckons it's easier to give up heroin than tobacco, and he's given up one and still smokes the other.
If I get any crappy smoking disease that's terminal I'll be visiting the board meeting of the biggest tobacco company with a sawn-off.
I know the argument "nobody made you take it up", but when you're 13 years old and the swine are actively targetting you I think they deserve everything they get. If I was King of Australia I'd simply ban them from sale. Then only the diehards would grow their own, the rest of the addicts would withdraw in a month of record assaults and domestics, then the dust settles.

Shannon is 5 days clean on Champix. My old man is 4 months clean also on Champix after completing the 12 week course.

The old dude is 60 and smoked 2 packets a day since 15. He has never tried to stop before either. I thought I'd have my inheritence already.

My advice is don't go Zyban, turns lovely people evil and psychotic. Plus you only get one go.

Champix you have 2, up to 24 weeks.

Seeing as you are on the portly side take up some exercise lest you get portlier. Shannon running 8 km a day to counter the 6 packets of timtams consumed.

And are you coming next Friday? Need to confirm bookings.

Thanks for the support guys.Its makes a big difference to know people are backing you up and joining in,thanks Gosilla and LC8TY.I started when i was 12.Used to steal smokes off the old man when he wasnt looking.Like most thought it was the cool thing to do.Boy was i wrong.The thing im trying to get into my boys heads,its not that they will kill you,give you bad breath,make you generally unwell its the reason that one day they will want to quit and it will be the hardest thing they have to do.I wont blame anyone for my addiction but the country should ban them and make them illegal.

Every time you get a craving tell yourself you can last another 20 min.
Before you know it the gaps between the cravings will grow.

25 years of 40 a day Camel or Gauloise's
now smoke free for 5 years.

I smoked a pack a day for 15 years too, gave up smoking the day my first son was born, in the last two years I've gone from 82kg to 120kg :(

I'm now working on that, by the time I'll have sorted that bit out I'll expect the whole process has taken me a good 3 years so can appreciate the hard slog you guys are in for, but hey, its worth it!

Ineed I do suck - I smoke 50 a week 2 packs. I chew gum at work (my rule is no smoking at work - too busy anyway).

I have breakfast every day and a few in the evening, Sometimes I enjoy a cigar I know its not good and my daughter hates it (I smoke outside ferkin cold heading out at 2C Canberra evening) I'm not willing to play give up at the moment.
