Transferring Out of State Bike Title - What is involved?

I just purchased a 2007 KTM 450 EXC from Nebraska(titled as street legal). What do I have to do to run the title through in Colorado? Years ago the DMV clerk would just go out and verfiy the VIN and run the title through for an out of state purchase. What is the process now?

It's about the same, very easy. I have done a few since moving here.
I had to go to the smog test pace to get a VIN verification the last couple of times, I think they charged $15, and of course they have to make you wait a while because they are so incredibly busy.

Since it's already a street titled vehicle, you can take it to a dealer and have the VIN verification paperwork done - required because it's out-of-state.

Had it been a dirtbike conversion and a new street title application, it would have required a CERTIFIED VIN verification, by law enforcement.

Blake is correct. If it already has an out of state title you can get the VIN verification done at any dealer or the emissions place. The last one I did I went up to the Yamaha shop in Thornton and they did not even charge me for it. But some places charge from $12 to $25. They should have the forms or you can pick on up from DMV.

It is then a simple thing to go to DMV and register it just like anything else.

Thanks for the quick replies. Sounds like I will just have to swing by the local dealer first. Sounds painless enough.
