Old Oregon Hwy 30-E Boise to Baker

Has anyone taken this route? Checking to see if the road condition, especially from cement plant road to Durkee and Baker City, is ok for my friends Harley.

Also, could use some help on scenic/fun route from Baker City to Pasco (although I don't think there are a lot of options.) Thanks!

Lime, Oregon is where the old cement plant lingers. The old road is okay for travel, but not really very long. There are feldspar crystals littering the hillside just south of the old cement plant, take the side road past the plant, and ride along until you come near the railroad tracks. Some above and below the tracks. have fun!

Cement plant to Baker City is good 2 lane, no worries for the Harley.
For some nice roads to pasco you can take hwy 30 through Baker and on to North Powder, then take 237 to Union and on into La Grande. A few miles down 84 towards Pendelton take the spring creek exit onto the old hwy from there you can work your way to Pendelton without getting on the freeway again, it will cross the freeway a couple times and end up going down the old cabbage hill into Pendelton.
From Pendleton take 37 north to 730 it will take you up the river to Pasco.

Wicked You can catch it in Caldwell

Westbound, in Caldwell, get on the Sand Hollow Road - that's Old 30. Stay on it until you meet the junction to New Plymouth. It goes into New Plymouth. From there you go west and then north to Fruitland, and then westward across the Snake to Ontario. The frontage road on the west side of I84 connects to OR 201 - again, what used to be US30. Take OR 201 northward and then westward (bypassing Weiser) to Olds Ferry and the Snake River. This is Old 30. You will ultimately rejoin I84 for a mile or two, then get off at Farewell Bend/Huntington. The road to Huntington is Old 30. From Huntington you can parallel I84 all the way to Baker City, but for a stretch where you have to get back on the freeway at or near the old cement plant at Lime and ride it a few miles until the new cement plant, or at Durkee. It's fun. As described above, you can cross the Blue Mountains, and go quite a ways.

Here's a good website describing the various US 30 routings over the years:

It's all Harley capable.

Alternate Route to Pasco?

I was thinking of heading north on 82 out of La Grande to Elgin, 204 to Walla Walla, then 12 into Pasco.

Is US30 into Pendleton and 37 to Pasco funner/more scenic? Old Imigrant Hill Rd. looks great, and it would be fun to ride the historic US30.
