Steve, any chance of you snapping a couple piccies of your bash plate and the frame-mounted tabs? My Djebel doesn't seem to have any and I need to figure out a solution.

They've changed the settings so you need to use an online photo hosting site and the img button.

No spark....bad CDI?

I got a 2001 DRZ250 for free a few months ago, the engine was pulled out of it and the guy was trying to install it into a street legal DR350 frame. I just built up the DR350 frame from an off road DR350 I had and want to get this DRZ back into one piece.

I got everything bolted back in and have 99% of the parts, missing a carb boot, battery and a few other little bits but figured I could at least try to get it running before chasing down the rest of the parts. I hooked up the battery charger and tried cranking it over but I have no spark. I double checked all the connections and nothing appears to be incorrect. I'm down to suspecting the CDI.

Anyone have one go bad? Anyone have a spare?

Just picked up a used Djebel 250XC and whilst she runs, she's in need of some TLC.
I've been looking at the online parts fiches to find some very standard parts, but just don't seem to be having any luck.
These are the bits I need at the moment:
- throttle cable
- headlight relay
- spark plug - (there are different numbers listed, so not sure which one is right. I'm looking to get an Iridium plug.
- side stand - the one on the bike has been moded so the bike hardly leans over, meaning a light gust of wind can blow it over... Will the DRZ/DRxxx side stand fit the Dejebel?
- side stand switch

(I know a bunch of people say rip it off and chuck it, so maybe some of the inmates here have one lying around gathering dust ). I'm the first to bypass the stupid clutch level switch, but do kind of like the safety aspect of the side stand switch. I mean rigging up a simple on/off switch to bypass the side stand switch when you don't want it to me seems like the way to go...
I've seen some on eBay for a DRZ400 but am not sure if these fit - can anyone answer?

Also, how common is it to replace the cam chain tensioner on these bikes?

Has anyone used this air filter, did it fit ok?

What about this one?

Here are all the different spark plugs they list for the DR-Z250, so which one to is it, e.g. there are 3 different NGK parts

17-1 SPARK PLUG (NGK,CR9E) 09482-00458 1 $4.83
17-2 SPARK PLUG (ND,U27ESR-N) 09482-00459 1 $5.51
17-3 SPARK PLUG (NGK,CR8E) 09482-00456 1 $4.59
17-4 SPARK PLUG (NGK,CR10E) 09482-00460 1 $4.83
17-5 SPARK PLUG (ND,U24ESR-N) 09482-00457 1 $5.51
17-6 SPARK PLUG (DENSO,U31ESR-N) 09482-00461 1 $11.23

All I'm after is an Ir NGK plug.

Rough and Road has uni-filters in stock as well as iridium plugs. Probably better off buying those items locally.

some years have the same bad cam chain tensioner as the drz400, so it can be common
i put a manual unit for a drz400 on my bike, but plan to replace it inn the near future with a new chain and ect

i think the side stand is the same

James, check part #'s on the 250 and 400 side stand switches to see if they are the same, I have a hunch that they are......If you find that they are the same shoot me a PM as I have a couple for the 400's.
