Lol! I lost my MapSource CD. Now I am screwed. I cant even download my tracks no more.
Hheeheh! There is a way around it. Download Training Center, and then MapSource update :)

I am working on my routing out to the motogp in Indanapolis. When I clicked on "select maps around the route" it (6.14.1) selected the proper maps, i.e., it showed them in the map list, but, it only highlighted one map around Indianapolis.
I also had problems with the map drawing being very slow and sometimes not happening at all when I changed the amount of detail. Not very conducive to route planning in the real world. |

I, too, had the same issues as everyone else. My Vista laptop is very fast yet the new Mapsource was quite a bit slower. I did discover that if I set the level of detail to less than HIGHEST things were not as bad. That said, I just went back to 6.13. Much better for my needs. Garmin must be using the Microsoft software model - bloat it up and wait for the hardware to catch up.

Thanks!!
Yet again, the members of this site have offered up highly valuable information. I recently downloaded the new 6.14.1, and it was not only slow, it kept crashing and freezing up my

Mapsource 6.14.1 Sucks!
I frequently create a waypoint when designing a route and then move it by "right-clicking" on the waypoint and selecting the Move Waypoint option. I can drag and drop it in a new location. This feature doesn't work with 6.14.1. I called Garmin and opened a ticket. They reported back that it didn't work and that I could go back to 6.13.7 or wait for an update. I went back to the old version. I also don't like the larger icons for waypoints. They just clutter up the screen and there's no way to use the smaller icons as was available in the old versions.

Selection tool
Generally when I am creating a route in Mapsource I will use the route tool and select my starting and ending points. Mapsource then automatically calculates a route between the 2 points. The mapsource calculated route is seldom the exact route I want to travel so I modify the route with the selection tool. I click on a part of the route with the selection tool and then "drag" or "move" that part of the route to the road I want to ride on.
The problem I'm running into is that in the latest version of mapsource the selection tool doesn't always function like it did in previous version. When I click on the route with the selection tool it doesn't always allow me to "drag" the route around. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Has anyone else had this problem and figured out how to get the selection tool to always function so that we can shape a route?

I'm trying to tweak the return route for the weekend to come home up 620 or 281 instead of through town. And yes, sometimes it works like the old version and sometimes I have to click a couple of times in different spots along the route before I get the rubber band effect to move the route.
