Alu or plastic panniers?

Hi folks,
Hepco Becker Gobi plastic panniers : link
...or aluminum panniers: link

Which should I choose? I'm thinking plastics are lighter and possibly more versatile. Aluminum can be reshaped if dented and less likely to crack. Hepco Becker Gobi will care 3.5 liters of water (or beer) in the space between inner and outer wall. Aluminum looks more 'the business' compared to plastics.

Which to choose and why?

I have the aluminum bags and would buy them again. They are waterproof, have handy tie-down points on the lids, and are strong. The bike layed down in the yard, the bags held the bike up without a problem.

And you're right, they do "look the business". (good for stickers too!)
