IOWA -- Compiling Level B Road Maps

To all Iowans and passers-through:

I am acquiring copies (electronic, if possible) of maps detailing the location of Level B Roads throughout Iowa (starting south and working north). I've already gotten a few, but I figured I'd put a feeler out for anyone who already has some.

Anyone care to kick some along to a fella?

Thanks!

Look for roads designated as Earth Roads. These are your B's. After the GRGR I printed out the PDF for my county, highlighted all these roads, and then drew a 100mi track to try and get as many as possible. Rode it on Saturday and had a great time! Planning to complete my county next Saturday and then it's off to neighboring counties!

Yep, thats the way to do it! Works well for most states that I've looked at. If you go to a states D.O.T. website, look for the bicycle maps, those are usually the ones that show the good stuff.

I have done the same thing for the Loess Hills in western IA. Harrison and Monona Co's, a little in Woodbury. Still need to check out the stuff south of Council Bluffs down to Hamburg (Mills and Fremont Co's). I know of a few, haven't compiled and tracked them out yet though.
I eventually want to get a route running from Sioux City down to Hamburg, probably 300 miles or so.
Pic from July 5 ride I led.

Problem with those maps are they don't distinguish between gravel, and level B non-maintained. Does a map like that exist?

I found a sweet section http://maps.google.com/maps?q=1842+H...ed=0CBkQ8gEwAA

But I just stumbled upon it since its close to my dads farm. It sure beats any gravel/ball bearing road.

Yes they do. Level B are "earth" roads. The color ones are better though. Middle column ( has "surf" for "surface" in the link)

Those are the maps I used when I created the Trans Iowa Trail (TIT). I incorporated many of the B-roads into the ride.
