Cool2

Just under 2 weeks till I head to Northern MN on my bike. The tank bag shows up this Tues. & I`m putting an order for a fender mount Aux. fuel tank on Tues. Would`ve done it last Fri., but some idiot got my card # and I have to wait til the new card shows up. :P

Also thinking about crossing over to WI thru Duluth. Do some riding around up there by the lake.

I plan on it. I`m also considering doing a little riding into the U.P. of Michigan. its not as far awaybas I thought it was. Either way, I`ll decide each evening on the next day`s direction and possible distance.

You been there before??? We drove through from Macinac Island back to DSM. Some of the straightest road's I've ever seen. We kept looking for some kind of diversion off of the straightness and didn't find anything until we hit Wisconsin. No offense to anyone from the U.P., but man, I thought the place I grew up in Texas was boring.

What am I missing about the U.P. of Michigan???

You`re missing nothing about most of the U.P. I`m going up the northwest point of it. Just so`s the wife can see what Lake Superior is like. She`ll have the unenviable job of running chase in her Jeep Liberty whilst I thump around on the bike. I also will be stopping in Hurley WI to check out a coffee shop of a brother of someone I know on another message board. Pretty much just a week of drifting in the North woods and Lake Superior area.

I actually never had a rain cover for the wolfman.

Walmart sells some really cheap but nice waterproof bags. They come in a package of 3 in red, orange, or blue. Cost $10 for three. They are in the camping section.

Used them for 1000's of miles. If you have the enduro bag like I did the blue one was a perfect fit. Just put the important things in there and take the blue bag with you when your off the bike.

Or just get a giant loop fandango!!

Or a waterproof shower cap like grandma uses, those work too.

Tama Ride

I rode most of the Tama ride Saturday. With the rain Saturday morning plus the prior days there was a shortage of dust and a bit extra of the sticky stuff. I believe there were about 15 to 20 riders. Everything from a Kawasaki KE175 to a DR40SM on. A number choose to take routes around some of the Class " B" roads. Had it been a bit dryer it would have been very fast. As it was, the picture shows a bit of the first five of us and our tracks. Fun roads...good time. I had to cut out the last 20 miles or so because I had to get back to Waterloo early.

For you boys on SpankBook, here is a link to the Iowa River Offroad Club that put on the Tama ride;

Also, look me up if you'd like;

I was looking to cross bread ADV and the Iowa River group to help out, but I'll still try to pass info back and forth when need. I know there are still a few peoples still in the dark and refuse to have a FaceBook page

Saturday Gravel Ride

For anyone interested a couple of us are going to ride a gravel route in NE Iowa this Saturday. The route starts at Eldorado and is 170 miles. This will be mostly narrow gravel roads in the NE Iowa hills and include some nice two track in the Yellow River Forest. Miss Garmin says this will take 6 hours and 25 minutes. PM me if you are interested. Map shows track.
