Thanks!

I had been meaning to get that bike running for years. Finally, a friend was out at my dad's place and asked what I was going to do with that bike. I told him I was going to fix it up. He said "when?"

Which was a very good question. The next weekend, I took it home with me and dug into it. I'll never part ways with it now!

Welcome, Gravity. We'll have to get together for a KTM ride one day.

Thanks!

I'm up for it - just gotta get my bike back together. Hopefully before riding the weather gets here.

I was going to post my actual location here - I'm on the West side of Newton. So, I'm 30-40 miles East of you.

Man, I know exactly what you mean about getting the bike back together:

I feel like I've been just signing my paycheck over to Doug at MotoSports for weeks now. But, I'm almost there.

I'm in West Des Moines near Jordan Creek Mall. Not far at all.

Ha! Mines not quite that far apart. At least I still have my front end attached!

What are you doing to your bike? Rebuilding the shocks?

Nevermind! Found your thread.

But, that's what ya gotta do to:
Change the balancer shaft seal,
Upgrade the water pump to the CJ Designs shaft,
Check the valves,
Tighten the head bolts,
Change the plugs,
Service the forks,
Tighten the triple tree,
Install a new front tire,
Install sprockets and chain,
Install a new air cleaner,
Install Samco hoses,
Service the rear shock,
Service the swing arm,
Add a new bash plate, and
Install other bits and pieces.
Quite the laundry list!

Well I know Pauls, but where is that bridge? For being from Dubuque I'm pretty ignorant on where to ride if that is in the Dubuque area.

It's just south of Kellog IA on Ridge Road

Obviously, that picture was taken many many years ago - before the bridge was closed ;)

There is a foot path around the barricade on the West side of the bridge that a guy could get a bike through - provided he had knobbies. Not that I would know or advocate for such a thing!

ETA - the path is pretty soft and on the side of a very steep hill. I would definitely not try it on a 1200cc Beamer.

gravityisnotmyfriend screwed with this post 03-12-2013 at 08:07 AM Reason: Bike warning!
