I was busy this weekend...

...at Indy for MotoGP.
My seats sucked once again.
Some highlights:
I was forced to endure lunch with Jeremy Burgess (Valentino Rossi's crew chief) on Saturday.
Got into an argument with Scott Russell over some pulled pork on Friday as to whether or not Marquez could surpass Rossi's accomplishments.
Got the thumbs up from Larry Pegram.
Took secret pictures of Maverick's butt.
Chatted with Miguel Oliveira in my horribly broken Spanish.
Almost stole Iannone's boots.
Sat 2 rows in front of Ben Spies during MotoGP qualifying.
Hung out with Shane Turpin, Shelina Moreda and Eric Bostrom in the Brammo trailer for a bit after the e-bike qualifying on Saturday.
Spoke at length with Jeremy McWilliams on the topic of being older and still racing.
Got tear-offs from Lorenzo, Rossi, Pedrosa, Edwards, Vinales, Redding and Pol.
Just some teasers as I am still sorting through the over 7000 pictures I took.

Anybody else see the chick dump her bike at Baxter Cycle open house? I just feel so bad for her, it's like she's breaking into the male dominated world of motorcycling, but then she drops her harley sporster right there in front of maybe hundreds of people...... I just want to say to her in case she's reading, Almost every single one of us is on your side. And.... We're just glad we weren't the ones dropping our bikes
Keep riding lady. Remember that anyone within twenty feet of you ran up to help pick you up, and your bike. We're all on your side.

Dipping my toe into this thread.Had visions of a Tenere, but my beer budget only stretched to a DR.I'm in the Quad Cities and looking for some roads and people to ride with.I know all the good pavement around here ,but want something different for a change.
If you see some dork around Eldridge on a blue Dr that would be me.

You need to come north and west into Jackson, Jones, and eastern Linn County. There's some pretty good gravel here.

Sweet bike! DRs are great -- an under-appreciated bike for sure. This guy went around the world on his: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=556240

Although I have to say that the first thing I'd do is dump the headlight for a Trail Tech or Baja Designs: http://advrider.com/forums/showpost....&postcount=342

This is a DRZ400 report, but the bike is very well set up. Might give you some ideas: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=518376

For picking out roads, this is my favorite site: http://www.iowadot.gov/maps//msp/dlalphabetcounty.html

Just look for the gravel and green "B" roads by the color coding.

roads......

I'm south of Bellevue. Nice riding around here and across the river. But as stated above, stay out of Dubuque county.....flat and boring.......and if you believe that, have I got a deal for you! BTW I was riding into town last weekend and ran into some DS bikes heading south. One had an ADV decal on it. I was the goofball riding a XR650L.

Iowa Roll Call

Ah joy! My bike died on me at the Kum & Go on the corner of 121st street and Douglas in Urbandale. It was coughing and sputtering when l pulled in for gas, then continued to get worse before it died all together. I have a good charge, air filter is clean and their are no leaks. Any guesses as to what it might be? It is a 2007 BMW G650 xMoto.
