New to the area.

Hello all.

My name is Billy. I moved to Luzerne this past summer. I have an F800GS. I figured I'd say, "Hello". Feel free to contact me if you are in the area and would like to ride.

Iowa Backcountry Discovery Route.

So, guys, I'm thinking about next year's riding season. Here's a question for you:

I just rode most of the Colorado BDR. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=924868

. . . OK, I use the word "rode" fairly loosely:

Anyway, if you were going to map an off-road route through Iowa, what counties would you go through? Which counties are absolute musts? What B roads are absolutely necessary?

Having been on the gravel up around Prairie du Chien, those are hard to pass up. Some of the spots around Freemont County are cool, but most of the cool roads there are the paved ones.

I'm thinking that it might be possible to map gravel most of the way up the Des Moines River. Hmmm.

Well, give me any ideas you have.

There's someone in the GPS forum that laid out a Trans Iowa trail, so so speak. It's more of a southern route, it seemed.

Anything that crosses Iowa HAS to include Clayton, Alamakee, and Delaware counties. So I'd start in Prairie Du Chein/McGregor and work my way down at an angle. But that's me.

Is that the Dragoon trail? I did put together a GPS route for that and posted it in the tracks section. Never tried it out, though.

Just got home from a great trip to the W.R.T.
Six of us made the ride and it was too fun to be legal.
