White Rim

Gravityisnotmyfriend I have been meaning to do it for a year, so thanks for the inspiration. I wrote a ride report on my ride to the White Rim.

Our total time on the trail was about 8.5 hours. So you could do it in one day. It was recommended to me that if possible you camp on the trail because its such a unique opportunity to be that "away". We camped at Murphy and that was a great spot. Pretty much all the Murphy sites are amazing. We slept right out on the rocks.

Not sure if I'm camping out Saturday night or not.

Did you do the whole White Rim Trail on your GS? How long did it take? I'm planning a Colorado/Utah trip for the end of next summer and am trying to figure out how much time to allocate for the trail. I want to hit Slick Rock and Top Of the World while I'm out there too.

The mountain bike record for the White Rim trail approx 100 miles is in the neighborhood of 6.5 hours. Should be a piece of cake in a day on a motorcycle.

White Rim Speed Limit

The speed limit on the trail is 15 mph. The Rangers give hefty tickets. You could do it much faster but it might be expensive.

Well, the mountain bike guys are breaking the law then, because that's about a 17mph average. When I rode my mtn bike on the White Rim, I know we might have been a touch over that, going down Schaffer pass.

Yes this is very true. It can be done rather quickly. We took a lot of pictures, parked and walked to cliffs to take in the views, lost a guy, or so we thought, for about 20 minutes. We certainly weren't just there to finish the trail. after the grueling day we had getting there we really took it all in day 2.

Holy Cow! We treated it like the Dakar rally!!

I hit speeds of 50 mph sometimes! I didn't see no speed limit signs!!

Look at my avatar!

Let me know if you do make it up this direction anytime soon. I live in CR and would be up for some riding around the area if you want some company.
