Hey guys,

Picked up a new set of lite gravel tires yesterday. So I'm thinking after I cut my teeth a bit, I might finally be able to do some Iowa gravel adventure rides with you local fellows.

There may be a ride in September in Marshall or Hardin county through the iowa river off-road club. I asked if they were doing the Tama county ride they've done in the past and that's what they came back with.

Storm Chasers

Chased some storms today with Doug from MotoSports.

And ran across some sunflowers near Badger Creek. Really cool.

There isn't squat for riding in Hardin County.

I've ridden every single square inch of this county in the last 20 years.

Got trip report and tracks?
I plan on doing the reverse trip sometime yet this summer/fall when I go to Humboldt to visit the in-laws.
I really want as much gravel sections as possible. Is this trail routed that way, or not so much!?

The Dragoon Trail is routed 2 different ways. There is a historical route that routes you as close as possible to the original trail as possible.

Then there is the auto tour/bus route which keeps you on pavement.

The historical route is mostly on gravel but also spends some time on pavement when it is unavoidable.

The DOT has a text listing of the route and alternate here: http://www.iowadot.gov/autotrails/br...ragoon%20Trail

I've heard that stuffing the holes with steel wool will keep the mice out.

I didn't go this weekend, I ended up going riding with jack instead, but still had a blast!
