Question for SYM HD200 Owners

I picked up my HD200 today! Tomorrow will be my first outing with her so I'm anxious. I was checking the manual for tire pressures, since I'll check them before leaving, and noticed the pressures are in kg/cm sq. (1.75 for the front and 2.25 for the rear). My conversions show this to be approx. 25psi for the front and 32psi for the rear. Does this sound about right? I just want to be sure I was correct.

Thanks!

The converter program[1] I use says your numbers are correct (25 and 32).

I've found www.metric-conversions.org pretty handy for this sort of business. Don't forget the hyphen, you'll end up on some sort of scam site.

Didja ride it? Didja like it? I recommend at least SPF 30 (waterproof) sunscreen to keep the back molars from becoming sunburned.

Yep! put approx. 50miles on it yesterday. She did just great! Awesome little machine! I love the headlight being so bright, which is good to be seen with. I need to adjust it up a bit, as it's a little low. I need to get the mirrors further out, so I have a better view. Any aftermarket suggestions?

I found the mirrors OK, they just need to be twiddled for optimum viewing. If you really want the super MOD look, add some bar-end mirrors. About $39 bucks. Aprilia Scarabeo mirrors are really Da Bomb, but I don't think they would be worth the extra cost. SYM mirrors are very acceptable once adjusted.

I dialed in two clicks of pre-load on my rear shocks, which seemed to give the bike more snap cornering. When I thin out the rear tire a little, I am considering something a little stickier. I believe that Ninja 250 meats strap right on.

Top box is a must. I bought the Bestem, which was cheap, sturdy and serviceable. (Up to $69, I paid $59.)

You've already had my opinion on the GIVI windscreen.

Fieldsheer Contour saddlebags strap right up, and are great if you're camping or grocery shopping -- just the correct size for a bottle of Cabernet, for example.

My Dr. Pulley variator weights SHOULD arrive soon -- report upon installation.

Just ride the damn thing! Great, ennit? You can't get that stoink out of 172 cc without black magic. I put my Rocker Bro-bro (who has near 20 years more on two powered wheels than I) on the SYM today, and tried to follow on the Scarabeo 500ie. We kept together, but I am not worthy.

Dr.

Hate to say it, but my HD200 is more fun for sub-100 milers and up to 200-milers than the Mighty Scarabeo 500 ie. Besides, the SYM fuel cap is pretty and detailed -- the cap on the Aprilia looks like it was stolen off an olive oil bottle!

My only gripe with the HD's is that the plastic rear rack is the cheeziest excuse for a top box mount. I've complained twice to my boss about this rack, we've talked to Carter, they don't know if there will be a fix later on or not. I'd respect that 10 KG limit on weight embossed on the HD's rack, heck I'd even say it's being a little optimistic.

The Jet Euro 50's have a better rack, although it needs a small amount of dead-blow persuasion, because whoever framed out the metal rack's fabrication, eyeballed the dimensions..

The tail rack is short on weight capacity. My rack spit the two (nice, silver) mounting bolts with washers off fairly early on. I went to the hardware store, bought two black 8mm grade eights, and a nasty tube of Loctite. It's not a Honda with four wheels, but it may roll?

Canuman,
Where did you wire in the brake light from the Bestem top box to the HD200?
Thanks,

Edit: I found it. Used the green and yellow wire under the seat bucket.
