Um the bike - the one with the yellow tail bag HAS got crash bars fitted - Givi by the look of it. It's the milk delivery man who hasn't.

Duuu! thanks for pointing that out..! At first glance I didnt see the crash bars. That explains lack of damage. I have the Adv Spec bars, and just used to them cuz of their higher stance.

Yeah, I've got the Givis my buddy has just a bash plate. His crash bars were in a box in his garage waiting to be installed. This ride was a little unexpected and neither of our bikes were outfitted for it. Made a wrong turn off a maintained dirt road. Next thing we knew we were at the point of no return down a very rocky/muddy trail.

I dropped my bike no less than 5 times during this 1 mile section and amazingly it came out with only a couple of minor scuffs on the faring and bar ends after the last drop. That was after a major tank slapper through some mud. Every time I dropped it I was expecting to see carnage and was surprised that there was absolutely no damage to the plastics.

My buddy dropped his a couple of times as well and even without crash bars he got away with no damage to the plastics.

The bags are Touratech Zega Pros, I like them a lot. Trip was eight days, started in Austin, Texas and went up through Colorado, over to Utah, down to Arizona and back home. Top two photos are from Mt. Evans in Colorado. Third is on the way to Corkscrew Pass, just outside Silverton, CO. The last one was from Arches National Park in Utah.

Here are a few more.

Corkscew Pass, Colorado.

Just outside Moab, Utah.

Fantastic ride and pics - that's a ride I've been jonesin' for. On to the bags: They didn't look too wide (a good thing!). What is the size? 29"/35"? Finally, did you do the install yourself? Cheers, KLR
