I've just returned from a short trip down to California, where I hoped to shoot some pictures of the wildflowers in bloom. No such luck. Spring has been postponed, evidently. There was even snow on the Carrizo Plain (the one place where I did find a few flowers.)

My plans for Death Valley got messed up because of the snow in the higher elevations too. The road through Titus Canyon was closed.

And both the north and south entrances to Saline Valley were as well. Even the paved road up to Dante's View was off limits. So I explored Echo Canyon for the first time.

And by "explored," I mean rode up through six inch deep gravel for about four miles before the bike decided it was time for a nap.

Still, a great ride, and a short respite from this dreary Oregon spring.

Yeah, up here where I live (Yosemite National Park area), the snow just isn't melting in the higher elevations yet.

Normally around this time of the year they release some water from the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir to fill up the lake, but evidently the water is still in the form of snow on the mountains and hasn't melted into the reservoir yet.

I just rode home tonight from a meeting and it was like 37 degrees out, and I was wearing my new hot weather summer gloves.

Thank God for heated grips.

Nice pictures. I enjoyed looking at them. Thanks for sharing.

God Bless,
David

Reefdog: I'm guessing Tajikistan or Kyrgyzstan. Am I right?

Great pix of what looks like an awesome ride!

A couple from today, out trying the new riding gear. Only had the shitty camera phone though. Still lots of snow in the hills around here. Should be sledding well into May.
