Thanks Reefdog You can see the road on here or by googling 'Mollepata, Ancash, Peru'. The road is to the south-east of the town of Mollepata. Swtich to 'satellite' view, zoom-in and you'll see the endless switchbacks going down the mountain to the valley and up the mountain again. Memorable road it was

Been there too

What worked for me (I got stuck a few times during our trip) was to just let the bike fall over with a gentle push and once it's on the ground - on its side - spin it, so the rear tyre is 'out of the hole', and then pick it up: voila! no more digging and sweating for 30 minutes

Camping @ the 'Pampas Argentinas' was something else:

I just noticed the tool tube on your stuck in the sand shot. Are those Adventure Spec bars? I have those bars and have never seen that setup before. Have you got any closeups of how they are mounted? Any issues with engine heat melting the tubes?
Thanks
Dan

well spotted goneagain
have a XXXX one usually on the other mirror but it was in the pannier

Thanks Betitolara
I will have a look at the link you sent when I get home from work
I tried the push over method,,but the sand was like powder and the only way out was get rid of some weight hence the panniers in the distance in one photo shot

Dont worry Woodworks
I had a dozen Carlsbergs on ice in the right hand pannier,,,thats what all the weight was

cheers Reef

Some pics of riding near my home, not exactly inspiring terrain, but fun none the less.

I heard the train a commin' while I was parked here, so I had to get a pic.

Hey Dan,
Yes those are the Adventure Spec crash bars and the tool tubes fit in there very nicely. I'll take some photos of the '5 minute' installation when I get home in a few days. I used zip-ties and they lasted the whole trip ~40,000 kms (~25,000 miles). The plastic tubes don't show any signs of burning/melting from the engine's heat

Now a photo to keep the thread going

Just picked it up yesterday and HAD to ride home on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Altrider skid plate and crash bars were waiting at home and are now installed.

I thought the Blue/White Trophy Edition came with a skid plate? Mine arrived today, picking it up this weekend.
