Hi fella's
I know this is a picture thread but have not got the information i require from other threads, forums or a google search and thought some of you brainy blokes might have the answer

BMW dont want to know me regarding this question

Looking at upgrading my wife's bike from 2007 F650GS single cylinder to the new 2012 F650GS twin cylinder
The 2007 F650GS and the 2012 F650GS twin cylinder have a similiar seat height about 760mm with low seat,my wife requires this height cause she's a shorty
My F800GS has a seat height also low seat of 850mm but this is to high for her

QUESTION IS

Can the 2012 F650GS engine computer be upgraded to bring out the full 800cc of the derated engine????

that way she can ride the same bike as me, with the same spares which is important for our touring, but have the seat height to suit her

Have looked at reducing the height on 800 with suspension adjustment but that will effect the carrying capacity for touring

thanks in advance
Reef

650-800

There is thread here somewhere on this. From what I remember the short answer is no. Most of the motor spares are going to be the same anyways. Filters, plugs, chain, sprockets, fuel pump etc so you should still be good to go.

Cheers

First Spring ride in decent temperature

Have though already been on two wheels for 900+ miles after the snow disappeared here in mid/south Sweden but it's only today the temp jumped up conciderably ... today it was up to 68 F degrees, usually it's been between 32 and 47.

So couldn't resist a long fast ride on tarmac were I used the whole tire width

Reefdog:

I read in somewhere that additionally to the differents maping on the ECU, those engines has differents camshafts. So, I think that makes this upgrade will be very expensive.

Better take the F800GS, install a shorter spring suspension kit (Hyperpro or something like that and you can low the bike until 50mm), make a "new lower shape design" to the "standard BMW low seat" (you can do with a knife) and buy a special boots to your wife with more high plants... (a friend of mine bougth some touring german boots that gives him a 1" more high).

Regards,
JV

Kinda leaves your exhaust hanging, doesn't it? I'm a wee bit paranoid about that after I damn near crimped my pipe shut one day. Thus the goddamn enormous aluminum ingot I bought for mine :P

Good to see you (and your bike) again, Dave. So... did you do an Evel Knievel over that gully?
