akarob's 2015 Pachaug Dualspork 4/20 season kick-off Camp-n-Ride

akarob's 2015 Pachaug Dualspork 4/20 season kick-off Camp-n-Ride
Yes, it's time!! Once again, it's full on. Bring your beef, duck, pork and especially rabbit.

When: April 17-19

Where: Mt Misery Campground (aka "the Chapman Area"), Pachaug State Forest, Voluntown CT, entrances off Rt 49,

All are invited, if you're nuts enough to camp this early. I just ask that you tell me so I can keep a head count. I'm not sending out personal text invitations for this one, so don't feel left out if you don't see one this time. Those that follow the regional and local threads will figure it out.

What to expect? Well, it's whatever you want it to be. Bring what you ride, ride what you being. Both big and small bikes are welcome, just be street registered. I have a really good loop for the big bikes that I'll be happy to share. It's approx 100 miles long and is 50% or more dirt roads. It's a great ride. I plan to share a GPX file by Garmin wireless transfer at the camp.

Alcohol IS ok this time of year, but not raging parties late at night. Reasonable parties are fine. If you want to come, just let me know and kick in a few $ for the campsite fee when you get there. The sites accommodate 6 people each. We generally take over about 3 or 4 sites. Indicate your intent to come so I can keep a head count.

No Showers, but a bucket, a cup and soap will get it done.
Public drinking water is on site.
Reasonably clean out houses
Dumpsters on site. Please clean up after yourself.

As always, the rules are basic. Most important - GO SLOW ON PARK ROADS. People have gotten tickets, and roosting and general ass hattery makes our whole group look bad. Keep it cool and I'll keep hosting these rides.

In summary, I'm bringing the bike on a truck, that means I will also be supplying at least one or two large awning shelters, propane tank, cooker with large iron skillet, trash bags, etc etc etc. You can easily come with the bare minimum of supplies and do just fine for the weekend. No need to over pack here. There is also everything you could possibly need within a mile of camp including breakfast restaurant, Dunkin Donuts, Grocery Store / Deli, Liquor Store, gas, etc etc etc.

GEAR SWAP. I think I'll do a gear swap at this one too. If you have some items you want to give away, bring them along. This time, there won't be a raffle, it'll be first some-first serve. I'll have a table set up, just place your donated items on it and if anyone wants the item, they can take it. Simple as that.

I'll try to keep a list of people coming, so chime in if you plan to show.

Yea, we all do. Not to mention, it's currently dropping a new 6-8" of snow on my right now.

I was just out getting frisky with the stud gun.

Those are carbide road tire studs in my snow boots, they make an assuring clicking sound when I walk now. No more slips.

GPX file by Garmin wireless transfer at the camp!

Impressive... I seem to be falling behind on the technology curve...
Is this done by mental telepathy?

All Gamins that I know of from the Oregon model and later have a wireless transfer feature that lets one unit sent a track to another.

i've let brazen13 know that this event is coming up (she had a fantastic time last year). i know mar/apr are busy for her (not so much for me) so we'll see (translated: fence sitters). if she is away and i'm not i will definitely try and make it over for this as it is always a good time. thinking about the 650R for this one and consider it "little bike".
