Here's the damage from dumping the DRZ last weekend. I didn't even drop the bike that hard! Cheaper than replacing/repairing the radiator I guess but still sucks.

Great ride today! Great meeting everyone. Trail conditions were great, air temp a bit cool, but not to bad. Glad to see Rensul got his bike up and running and was able to enjoy the day. Hope the damage is not to bad to your engine Akarob. Hopefully riding again the weekend after next!

That looks more like a crack than a hole in your clutch cover and JB weld will seal it. I did the same thing down in Hancock,NY a couple years ago. That cover still doesn't leak.

Yea, I heard something rattling around in there though. Sounded like my skid plate was loose. I'm betting a piece of the case chipped off the back side of the case and got pulverized. That ding happened pretty close to the 30 mile mark so we were a long way from the truck. The noise went away almost as soon as it started. I'll pop it open and take a peek sometime this week.

As for the 400, it's possible the stator is the cause I suppose. It was banging around in there for a while before I could fix it. It kind of makes the most sense. I know I'm going to be shocked by the price of a new one. I'll try to find used, but I hate buying used electrical stuff. I'll do the easy stuff first, new gas and spark plug. If that doesn't fix it, it's either that stator or the CDI.

It's too bad because that 400 was running perfect too. Tons of compression and power. A very fun bike, when it runs.

No one had to go to the hospital or get towed out today? What, were you taking it slow?

I love reading what you guys get up in this thread; it's pretty close to insanity defined :)

Yup - good ride yesterday. I was pissed (loose radiator hose(s) leaking fluid - tightened them up and was good to go) we didn't get to ride with the full group but Pete and I still did well for our first ride of the season.

See everyone next time!

AKAROBS's Case

I'll tell you - This Rob guy is tough on his toys! I once lent him my EXC for a day and needed meds to get through the day!

It looks to me that the EE Bash Plate is not wide enough to protect that case side. It should be at least as broad as the width of the engine.

Is it the correct part number for that year?

"Hard sayin not knowing?"
