Nice job sparrow!

I did the same ride in 2010 on my V-Strom. First class event by the organizers.

Finished in 19 hrs 26 minutes despite 400+ miles of rain. The first leg up to Swanton was thunderstorms from the VT state line on up, then rain on and off to Bangor. Max gps speed was 102 mph trying to finally get past a pack of Harleys after many miles of two lane twisty frustration.

SS1000

The only time I felt tired was between Bangor and Boston, it was getting hard to keep my eyelids open. Some caffeine and the Boston traffic perked me up! I actually felt ok most of the rest of the time.

I wanted to do the 24 hour rally this year, but my job got in the way. Maybe next year!

Thanks and congratulations on yours. Outside of the morning fog going up to Swanton the weather could not have been any better. It was perfect for a ride. Here's a rally I'm doing next month with my wife. You might be interested as it's only an 8 hour event.

There are times when we forget the fact that we are not all racers and the reason we got into trail riding was to have fun. That’s what this event is for, with most of the years recreation rides requiring street registrations most riders miss out on these kinds of events. June 17th is Father’s Day and I can’t think of a better way to spend the day than riding with your family. You can ride from 8:00 AM in the morning to 4:00 PM in the afternoon with your family or friends at your leisure.

We will have approximately a 25 mile course arrowed for your riding enjoyment. To make it more interesting we are throwing in a game of chance, an off road poker run. There will be unmanned checkpoints along the route where you will punch a card and then at the finish you will draw a poker hand based on the number of checkpoints you reached. The best poker hands win the trophies. There will be an excellent plaque for the best overall hand and trophies for the next best five hands. On top of this we are setting up a mile long grass track for the youngsters and for the beginners complete with motorized babysitters. We will ride herd on your curtain crawlers while you ride the course. Food will be available all day by the landowner. You can ride this course as many times as you like during the day.

This Recreation Ride will take place at the DeMoranville Farm on Chace Road East Freetown, MA. Arrowed from exit 8 off Route 140. Cost of entry is $30.00 for adults and $20.00 for kids under 16. There will also be a $5.00per car parking fee. A portion of the entry will be donated to our favorite charity, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Questions? Call Gordie 781-294-8355. Come on down! Help us put some fun back in our sport and also help a worthy cause. I think we will call this event the Late Spring Fling. It is open to everyone!
cross posting from the Boston/Cambridge thread.

I am going to be there for this one (it is right in my back yard).
so if any of you FFers want to get dusted by Capt. Redbeard on his new two smoker - drop me a line and we can meet up in the parking lot.

--- I am also in the process of getting the smoker plated. when I am done with that process - probably tomorrow - I will do a little write up so folks know what they need to do to slip through the cracks.

The ride was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be and we're both considering getting true rally bikes to start doing some of these rallies.
Do you have link for these rallies?

Here's a video I made from this past weekend using the "Liquid" video goggles. I think it gives you a good feel for what the event was like.

There were a few other "Holy Shit"s along the way I didn't get on camera, trust me. I almost went over the bars a couple times in the mud but didn't have the camera rolling.

That looked like a fun ride! Wish I could have made it.

the videos from the goggle cam is so much better that the GoPro on the top or side of the helmet. Especially the lower number of loud branch slaps.

Nice video.
