From NEDB and the Pathfinders club who worked their asses off:

Finally. After more than 500 man hours from the Pathfinders Motorcycle Club, hundreds more from contractors and more than $300,000, the Thomaston Dam trail system is open.

Please be careful in there. There is still a lot of trail junk and mossy rocks. The ragweed is high in some areas so be extremely careful. I'd stay out of there this weekend as there are a lot of riders with pent up aggression chomping on the bit to get in there. Accidents on the trails will surely get the trails closed again. DON'T BE A D##CHEBAG IN THE PARKING LOT. Start your bike and get in the woods.

Remember, you need a CT ATV registration or valid motorcycle street plate to ride these trails. Some other state's ATV plates are also accepted.

PLEASE RIDE SAFELY!

Thomaston Dam Trail Bike Area Reopened 30 August 2012
__________________________________________________ ________
Since the August 2011 Hurricanes Irene and Lee with the second highest water ever at Thomaston Dam and the October 2011 snow storm Alfred, four equipment rental contracts, and seven tree removal/pruning & climbing contracts have been completed. Volunteers have logged 519 Man hours, with Corps of Engineers labor. Contracted tree climbers have addressed over 180 trees with hanging limbs. Debris removal/ equipment contractors and in house forces have moved much of the loose wood that was dropped from the leaning and hanging damaged trees. Representatives from the Pathfinders Motorcycle club have been in regularly for work parties and inspections. This week crews completed addressing the tall ragweed and the remaining hazard trees over the trails.
Park Rangers advise that riders please observe posted signs and closed areas and ride at a safe speed. Note that the trail bike riding area closes on 14 October 2012 as usual to accommodate small game, waterfowl, turkey and fall archery deer hunting in accordance with CT State regulations. Further information attached.

It would be a good place to practice drills and mess around with your buds, maybe even get some non-POV footage. Gets old real fast if you are alone. Wouldn't mind trying a buzz run there one day though.

My opinion, from a guy without kids, is that it's for your son - not your wife. Talk to him quietly and privately and see what he thinks. If he doesn't care, it's race on. I'm also sure that it's best to err on the side of caution in cases like this. Women are sentimental about things that guys don't think twice about.

GL, tell us how his game went.

No, DO NOT put the kid in that position. Who is the parent? It's for the parent to decide; IMHO his kid's 1st game is more important than just another race, but that should be HIS decision, not covered up by what the kid says or what the wife says..

Go to the game regardless of what he or the wife says. It will come back to haunt you one way or another if you don't.

Besides, I don't need you getting any faster.;)
