January 27th. http://www.netra.org/static/flyers/2013SnowRunFlyer.pdf

I just started taking my engine apart last night to fix the e-start, upgrade the oil pump gears and inspect the water pump shaft. I got the clutch and waterpump on the workbench now and I have all the parts/gaskets I need. Hopefully this isn't a major deal and I can finish up this week.

I got the new items installed and the starter thing tightened, hopefully get it put back together tomorrow. One item is giving me an issue, so I'll re-look at it when I'm not so tired.

They go easy on you for the Snow Run because of the possibilty of deep snow, 50-60 miles typically. Which becomes a blast if the snow depth is around 3-5 hard crusty frozen fun-ness...

The Snow Run is the most/least fun you can have on a bike, depending on tire selection and/or conditions.

I remember one year it was so good it was like a cruise thru the woods and one year so bad, you had to have the guy behind you help lift your bike out of the seat deep snow rut so you could let him past you.

I got my 450 buttoned up today. E start works and everything now. Almost too good to be true. The battery was a little dead today, but it was cranking over. It even started without right leg assistance a couple times. A day on the trickle charger should make it right as rain.

Akarob, are you having flashbacks from using the trials tire.....

If I had an extra studded set I'd give'm to ya........this is all I got, and I need all the help I can get to stay upright.

Have you checked around locally at tire shops that do car tire studding to stud up a set of dirt bike tires?

[Pete's Tire Barns, Inc. Franklin, CT 15 Murphy Road Franklin, CT 06254]

[Snow Tire Studding (Only at Wal-Mart Tire & Lube Express locations with proper studding equipment) $8.50 per tire]

I'm predicting a dry and cold run.

With your offroad skills, I know you'd tear ass down the snow run trail with just a fresh set of new knobbies.

I remember that. He's so fast to pass me then holds me up twice through the mud. I certainly seem to make up good time by going over rocks at a good pace. Mt Misery is great Enduro practice. If you , without stopping to take a break, can go over that Mt Misery trail, then the next connecting trail, then Baby Head Hill, then the trail after that going up to Hell Hollow Road, you are doing well.

I'll check with that shop and see what they say. I think the Michilins are about $320 new. If you figure $140 for new tires, and $50 labor and $50 in parts, I suppose it could be a hundred cheaper. But I doubt they could do two tires in an hour, so $80+ on labor is what I'm expecting to hear. I'll let ya know.

I gave away a set last year to a guy who sold his bike. I'll ask him if he still has them. They're not in the best condition but they're legal and better than just knobby's.

Ok great. I'd love to have a set, even if they're beat up a little.
