No man. Same tire. I have can squeeze a few hundred more miles on that tire. I did an amazing job on the rim tape too, if I don't mind saying so. I got new HD rim strip tape, and I also used some TEFLON TAPE for good measure. My company uses it for some jobs then it expires. New stuff for the next job.

Anyway, that was crazy how the tire bead stayed seated. I expected it to start flopping around at mile 2. Good to go now. Wait til you see what I put on it next for the summer fun.

I wish my big bike (aka 650gs) was made with dirt bike size wheels.. I'm stuck with this horrible 19" front / 17" rear combo.. The rear isn't bad but off road oriented 19" front tires are rather rare.. I'm curious to see what shoes Rob puts on his big bike for the summer though...

When in doubt, gas it. It will either fix the problem, or at the very least end the suspense.

07 650GS / 05 DRZ400S / 72 CB350 (that hasn't run since shortly after I bought it)

I've got a 19" TKC80 on the front of my Dakar; pricey but works great on all terrain and wears well. I use it mostly for commuting these days.

I see that a the 19/17 conversion is popular amoung the 950/990 crowd. I dont' get it. Got 17's or go home.

On a side note, I got my handlebars changed out today. I went with the Raptor ATV bend. It's got a tiny bit more sweep than I'd choose on a dirt bike, but overall the fit is perfect, for me. I'll post up a picture or 2 tomorrow. Off to adjust the chain and take it for a shake down.

Yup - I bought it with a salvage title; front end damage, and came with a 19" front. I have the original front wheel but it's a pretzel. I've considered having a new 21" laced to the hub, but it handles fine on and off road, so why bother? I certainly don't need it sitting any taller with the modded seat I have.

Sounds like you are dangerously close to the redbeard maintenance schedule.....

Why fix it in the garage when you can fix it on the trail?
