I know what you mean, I've come across many deer on the bike and it always seems like they didn't hear me coming.

On one ride (not at Pachaug) I came up over a hill and upon three coyote pups. They scattered, I immediately shut the bike off, parked it and followed them back to their den. I sat there with one of the pups for about 30 minutes with him less than 10 feet away. I tried coaxing him closer but he wasn't that stupid and I didn't have any food. It was a pretty cool experience. Unfortunately, I only had my camera phone on me so my pictures didn't come out too good.

This is a good example why I use a heavy duty tube...you can ride all day on a flat...only a couple $$$ more..!

it was a heavy duty tube. unfortunately new bike, no riim locks, front tire, ripped the stem out, and had no tye wraps with me. Rode it out to the road. then rode it on the road for about 1/2 mile, then decided we were close enough to get the truck. I was just bummed that I ruined the rest of the day for him.

Today's ride was pretty nice. Nothing mayjor happened. No bikes broke. Didn't get shot. There were a LOT of hunters out there though.

It was pretty amazing how many hunters were out there. I just wonder how many of the hunters, that we did not see, drew a bead on us and thought about squeezing one off, as we cruised by and "scared away all the fucking deer"....
