Maybe next weekend I will find some time, its a long weekend

I am not sure...

what is going on tomorrow due to buddies schedule but... if we could join you guys where does one meet up? What time? I have done Pachaug on turkey runs etc. but never solo. I remember reading about the NETRA loop but don't know where to get a copy of it... any help?

Don't bikes keep the deer moving which is better for the hunters?

At the corner of Dow and Spaulding is the NETRA lot. I believe everyone is planning on rolling out of the parking lot at around 9:30. PM me for more details if needed.

I outfitted my bike with some extra floatation so I can get through those big puddles better. Good to go for tomorrow. I'll shoot for 9:30 at the NETRA lot.

it was wet and slippery today for sure , I had a few encounters with gravity and got to know the earth pretty well. I almost swampped my bike in the same place that the KTM in akarob's group did , luckily I stayed on it and made it out the other side , though it wasn't pretty , I think someone may have even caught the footage on video .

there were 3 groups today that kept playing leap frog with eachother ,

we passed the other 2 groups just before the greens falls section , we skipped the long deep water crossing and took the dirt road out to the pavement to avoid it , we were at the Mt Misery parking lot for a while and neither group went by us, hope all was well .

nice day for a ride . I was soo busy having fun I only took one pic

yes...

... there were some puddles. I was on the KTM w/ white plastics and in the beginning had trouble w/ my bike stalling in the deep puddles( yes I need to reroute the vents) so I was playing the ponds carefully. When I came upon a pond w/ large logs piled up around the sides, w/ a guy working on his drowned bike on the other side, and another fellow aiming a camera at me waiting for me to cross... I played in conservatively and walked my bike through. Good ride

You walked your bike through that crossing? You must have gotten pretty wet.
When we came through there must have been at least 8 bikes on the other side.

well after a 35 year hiatus i made an attempt to do some real trail riding sunday. pachaug was my choice and it was lots of fun.

the good:
1) no bent metal
2) no injuries
3) riding instinctively came back to me.

the bad:
1) my bike (klr250) weighs more than it used to......and so do i
2) my bike has less power than it used to......and so do i
3) i was constantly uncertain of my location on the trails and not wanting to piss off any horse, bicycle or ped folks, i bailed early.

i started at spaulding rd and must have taken a wrong turn because i ended up back on the paved road. a guy and his wife stopped to give me directions and i was quickly back in the woods heading for the trails again. after a mile or two there were several signs that could be interpreted as "stay out of here" or "stay out of there" so i did a uey and left. sometimes i think signs should only be posted by folks unfamiliar with the area.

there were several pickups and a few trailers in the spaulding rd lot but i only saw one other bike. it was a ktm that skillfully zipped by as i was getting directions from some hikers.

i'll likely try again in the spring. riding with others who know the trails would help. if anyone wants to go slow enough for a guy re-entering the sport i'll be happy to follow. think of it as a four hour trials ride!
