Looks like a great ride with a good group of riders. I'm sorry to hear about the injured rider. Is he going to be okay?
Did you at least fry up the cow along with that table?

Rarely seen at an ADV Rally
Alright, more fun and hijinx.
A pic of the elusive cow fighter, Conistoga Man (second from right). No one has ever seen his face, only his profile. (Glad you're gonne be okay Jeff. I still owe you a beverage)![]() That is his faithful compatriot, Tosh on the left. More Rarely Seen: ![]() (smarter than black cows at night) ![]() Sheep shit. ![]() Dyvking (not that uncommon, but a great pic nonetheless) with Mono Lake in the background. ![]() The Science Teacher documenting the existence of the rare wild mountain watermelon. ![]() Sunrise on the mountains. ![]() I think this is a...BMW? Not sure. Never seen one at an ADV rally before. (not that I have been to that many.)![]() The new Ahamay dealership in town. Not many of these around. ![]() A solar-charged rider recharging. He claimed to be part of the WMRS science experiment group. He was snoring. ?Again, a great weekend. Great riding and great activities. Quite a bit of excitement for the last night. A wild fire and a rider down that could have gone horribly differently. (never trust the black cows, at night, with no running lights. ) Thanks Stonewall and H8Chains and everyone else who contributed to a great time.Looking forward to the next one and more "Rarely Seens".

You had DustJunkie ride you PYG 'cause you couldnt make it the whole way? FYYFF, I have good reason not to make it up, whilst you......your just a

( I don't think any of the ADVriders are to blame for that, though). Compared to what it could have been like, ConnestogaMan got off fairly easy. That was a BIG cow!

Bill and Allen, thank you very much for the kind words. Maybe some day I'll be able to use my heft (when I'm in shape) to legitimately keep up with you guys. Randy, I was wondering where you were, now I know. Missed having you there and I'll catch up with my fellow goon soon enough. So my pics finished uploading, and once I'm done with this silly conference call, I'll start to sift through and post some good ones.

Here we go. I started taking pics going over Sonora Pass as it was my first time over that one.
![]() ![]() It wasn't until well into the pass that the stupid cages thinned out... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then on to 395 and a very nice sunset... In my mirror... ![]() ![]() Saturday's ride with a slew of new friends. ![]() Typical KTM. ![]() ![]() Inte in full effect. ![]() Henry rockin' it. ![]() Group shot at the lake by a very nice and helpful ranger. ![]() Dave NOT doing a wheelie for once. ![]() The slowest I saw Jake all weekend. ![]() Quick pit stop at Bridgeport before heading to Bodie. ![]() Somewhere on the road to Bodie. ![]() Horrible views. ![]() Some crazy hill climbs. ![]() That didn't go so well. ![]() ![]() Glamor shot. ![]() Dorky shot. ![]() Crazy shot. ![]() First view of Bodie. ![]() Another nice ranger. ![]() What a nice bunch of young men. ![]() The mill. ![]() The gas station. ![]() The dork. ![]() Parts store (G Funk could have used this place). ![]() School house where math is king. ![]() ![]() Pool hall. ![]() I took a bunch of other pics, but that captures Bodie more or less. You meet the nicest people... ![]() ![]() Standing guard at the Post Pile. ![]() Then checking out the river right there. ![]() ![]() My attempt at a cool drunken night shot. ![]() Surise on Sunday prior to heading out to the Research Station. ![]() The crew after doing the highest speeds I've ever done off road. Thanks for giving me the confidence, guys! ![]() The infamous hill that Jake got my worthless butt up. ![]() Bill and I taking a break and letting the pigs cool down a bit. ![]() ![]() Close (or so I thought) to the top. ![]() Parking next to the viscious attack sheep. ![]() The research station itself. ![]() More terrible views. ![]() ![]() More of a motley crew. ![]() Enroute to camp to head out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My desktop. ![]() itsatdm struggling a bit. ![]() Allen winning the Mcgyver award for a fuel pump fix. Yes, that is a tire guage. ![]() Moments before the bike fell over. ![]() Those are the best ones I took. Who's next??

ADVriders know justice. ![]() I saw the accident while sitting in the darkness at camp watching the stars. The sound of a GS impacting the pavement made my skin crawl. I'm relieved Jeff will make a full and speedy recovery. Thanks again Stonewall for the random moments that magically align.

It will take everyone's contributions to totally capture what that event was really all about, eh? I can't thank Stonewall, H8chains and all the FFs that I met and hung with for making this thing go off so well. What a great gathering of riders, bikes and fun.

Friday
First order of buisness was to convert the Commuter Rocket.
![]() Into the Adventure Camper. ![]() Good thing Rider914 told me to pack light! Left home Thursday morning at 6:30 planning to take the "Rider914 2-Day Adventure route" for a Friday afternoon arrival. ![]() This was to be my first time camping off a motorcycle (nOOb). I always start and finish my rides on DIRT. ![]() So far...I'm lovin' it! ![]() Met up with Rider914 and Design4d in Adelanto. BTW Bravo Burgers is ![]() Just before dropping into Panamint Valley! Not photoshopped. ![]() A couple of weeks ago I urged an inmate NOT to go to Death Valley in the Summer. But I didn't say Panamint Valley. ![]() The twisties climbing out of Panamint Spring are lots-o-fun, unless... [IMG][/IMG] Rider914 patiently explained to me how these signs don't apply to Adventure Riders. ![]() And that's a good thing. ![]() ![]() ![]() Dropping into Owens Valley. ![]() The guy that was removing obstacles from the road became one. ![]() Reward Mine was cool, literally and figuratively. ![]() ![]() We guessed this had been left by Riverrat. He later confirmed it. ![]() Turn up the volume before veiwing. [IMG][/IMG] One hand for the bike and one for the camera. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Did dirt all the way up the valley paralleling 395. Good stuff! ![]() ![]() What a good lookin' group of adventurers! ![]() Dinner ![]() Then following Rider914 back into the darkness of Casa Diablo. ![]() Set up camp in the dark and awoke the next morning to this... ![]() ![]() Yeah Baby! More to come. riceless950 screwed with this post 08-05-2008 at 12:19 PM |

I know I really enjoyed Wyman, puckered quite a bit down Silver myself, but did just fine. Zen, Sandplow (Tony), and Kevin had lots of fun in the water crossings. We splashed the hell out of them, playing in the water. I guess the HP2 intake is positioned better than Gillafunk's GS, 'cause we hit the water pretty hard a few times. Sandplow and I returned to norcal via Monitor/Ebbets, and passed Kevin going east at the bottom of Route 4 just east of Murphy. What a great ride and riding partners. Had a blast, enjoyed the company, and glad to hear everyone is whole, except the cow. Thanks to Stonewall and others who put things together.

great report........
...I just took a few shots... Sand....my new favorite.... ![]() ![]() 86d4life rode 5 miles up this sand wash with a Scorpion rear tire... ![]() We heard that sand is easier to ride when it is wet... ![]() 86d4life on the fly ![]() Had to slow down for the locals.... ![]() So they say the faster you go...the easier it is....the LC8 sound likes it enjoys the altitude...
