Adel to Nevada Jims view

A couple of pictures of my view, not much to say about this leg other than, fast, dusty, georgous dry lake beds that I wish we would have had more time and gas to play around on a little more! This was my first tim on a playa and man was that shit fun! I couldn't believe the "crunchy traction"
Three hungry Amigos pull into Adel ready for "whatever she's serving up"

Great food and atmosphere, real friendly real cowboys, and lots to look at on the walls.

"Wicked witch" ended up driving this and "Not" a broom as we were all expecting based on other reports we'd read. This lady was awsome, she was the only one there, she was feeding 15+ people and pumping gas to the steady stream of rigs and motorcycles stopping by. That place was busy!

Our first big playa, just had to check it out!

Sorry Jon, I would have stuck around to take your pics riding on this thing but I was more excited than a little kid with a bowl full of capn crunch on Saaaaaturday morning....

70+ MPH on some super dusty groomed gravel road and we ended up here in no time.

Lookin back from where we just came.

And where were headed......I'd heard Nevada was known foe UFOs maybe I got one captured here........

Cabin at entrance to Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge.

More later.............

The road through Coleman Valley is nice and easy. Big gravel allowing lots of time to soak
up the scenery. We come up on this neat little cabin up off the valley floor. Made from local stone
with good eaves its a little cooler inside and would make a great place to stop over for awhile.
There's bunk beds, a wood stove and cooking supplies inside.

Nap inside...

Or out.

And all of a sudden were down past Vya and making our way up through Home Camp to Hays Peak.
We've left the big gravel road and approach the hills on a nice two track. The hour is still
pretty early and I'm looking forward to seeing the view from up there. We pass a couple bow hunter
camps and don't see much activity.

As we start climbing steeper and steeper the track begins to turn into a rockpile as we move past
big stands of aspens; their shade beckons and again I just want to go crawl under there and pass
the day soaking up the views. But we're due in Cedarville so keep moving along.

We pass a pair of hunters with the hood up on their car. "Well" he says "the battery was getting
a little weak a coupla days ago."
So you decided to drive it up here to the middle of nowhere. Brilliant. He says there's another
fellow coming back with a battery to give him a jump. We carry on.
I swear I don't remember it being this rough, must have blocked it.
Up towards the top it is a pumpkin patch trail and we're pinballing all over the place. What fun.

We bounce our way to the top and glad to be there.

Stroke of luck with the weather. Let us wear the armor coats and not be too warm as long as we kept moving.
Great trip!

Thanks Pete, and I shoot with a camera that has no viewfinder/picture screen because its broke, I just have to assume I'm taking pictures because I broke it on the "Asshats and Rocks" summer lake ride this spring.

How's the new Husky treating you?

Never seen the door open to that place. Did someone break in or was it unlocked?

Door was held shut with a bungee; jamb was in poor shape and the lockset wasn't coming anywhere near the strikeplate.
Aside from that the place was in excellent shape.

The 610 has 230 miles on her and has had the first oil&filters service. Those are amazing shots with a busted camera. Its been so smokey and hot I am just riding early AM. I can't wait for some rain so I can ride in the woods without worrying about fire. ODF is not to happy if they catch you off road because it is so dry.

I think it's a fly or bee of some sort Jon, ear plugs out would've made no difference. Kinda cool looking though huh.
