"Anyone know the significance of this marker"?

The WPA and the CCC were products of the depression. Google and Wikipedia are you friends.

Those folks built some amazing stuff. You should see the Starlight Amphitheater in KC. Or the dams on Rock Creek at Mt. Magazine Ark.

Thanks for pitching in John!!!
I forgot all about the hot girl... I guess that me taking a pic might have resulted in a shotgun coming out of that truck.....Daddy looked very protective of her.
I did have a good look see though.....

Owen was really cool and is very proud of his shop. He told us he had met these Brits riding the TAT and had scared these guys a little by stopping them as well. He said that the looks on their faces were priceless and that they for sure were thinking of 'Deliverance'...
Anyway, he welded up a broken part on their bike as compensation for spooking them a bit..

That video is soo cool. The WW II era German Panzer sound was appropriate for that piece of road......That squeek will be explained a bit later...
I do wonder too how we both managed not to dump our bikes there.....
Another couple guys from S. Florida rode it as well a week later and I hope that 'Desmo' will pitch in here too a bit with some pics of Warloop.....
Todd to the white courtesy phone please.....

Hey, isn't that a satellite dish on the side of the house? Maybe an HDTV indoors? Crazy, isn't it?

I recall from some time in Belize, that you could walk down tiny town streets at night, seeing through the cracks of the houses, that they were watching satellite TV inside. But couldn't be bothered to patch the walls. Priorities.

War Loop road was extreme! One from our group (who will stay anonymous) RETIRED from dirt riding HALF WAY down War Loop! He wanted to put his bike for sale on Craig’s List to be picked up on site! Yes, it was on its side at the time! We had two KLR’s go down but no damage. Our photographer is still processing photos so I will have to post later.

Yeah thats nothing..... There are homes much worse than that half a mile from me..... hundreds of them... They don't care. Its how they were raised and will live and how their kids will live.

More story, por favor!!!

How about a few more geographical hints for the deskbound among us? Like where is Warloop? And how do I know when I'm near Owen's place so I can stop in and say "hey"?

All righty than.... With Warloop safely behind us and having spent the night resting up at the Baron Fork Creek campground we were headed for OK.
The day's ride went fast and we made up some time, as the roads were straight.
At times we were flying at 60 MPH+. One thing that we had to do was keep distance between us, for the dust, that was in places pretty thick depending on the amount of rain that had hit the area. We were lucky that it was not too dusty but staying 1/2 mile behind each other was a good call.

First a bridge crossing

A water crossing

Than a bridge crossing that didn't happen...

Oklahoma had received some serious rain prior to our departure and this bridge was destroyed as a result. We detoured after discovering no other way around. The plan was at first to go through the river, but the rock bottom was made from Teflon .... and it was too deep also..We met some locals who pointed us in the right way. We ended up on a little bit of slab but it was better than backtracking...
Than we found some straight roads...

Did I mention straight??

With unending views...

Than we hit a traffic jam....

This little guy was incredible as he was trying to hide behind John's bike...

We also rode through ranch land filled with cows, causing some more 'jams'...
John may have some cow herding pics....
All in all it was a great day with some really nice scenery along the way. We checked in at the Best Western in Bartlesville Oklahoma where the deskclerk was not so appreciative of the massive BO we both emitted.... Neither were we BTW and after a much needed shower and laundering everything we owned, life was good again....

To be Cont'd...
