I would've joined you, but we woosta folks are already planning for a ride this Sunday.

We have the TMT in our schedule this year and hoping to be doing it shortly in a few weeks.

No idea about the road conditions there if you do it this week , do let us know. Or you can join us for a ride this Sunday...

Look into this thread...

Looks like this thursday may be a good day to ride.

Anybody got the day off?

I'm not fast, like to cruse, eat, take pictures.

I rode the TMT yesterday. Im putting the RR in day tripping and a link here.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...0#post15903510

If your going out soon be careful. There seemed to be lots of damage to the roads from the winter so there are patches of loose rocks, dirt, trap rock and gravel all along the route. Mostly on the hills and around the corners. You will be humming along the hard packed flat and right in the corners is 3 inches of loose stuff.

I have pictures in the RR

I'm planning on running the TMT this coming Sunday. Anybody know if the route has been wrecked by the Tornados?

It is supposed to be published today by the NWeather Service. You could practice log crossing!

That area is fine. No tornados in that part of the state.

Conditions

Rode part of the southern TMT today (I live within a few miles of the TMT). The tornadoes were not in that area, but there have been some heavy rains. If you're riding a 500+ lb. bike, there are a few areas that will probably require your attention (most on Beech Plain Road and Fox Road) - very minor washouts, some very non-strategically placed gravel, and some grading. Nothing any bike can't handle if you realize it's there.

If you're looking for additional roads near the TMT, a nice one to try runs parallel to South Beech Plain Road, between RT 57 and Cold Spring Road. It's Hammertown Road that goes north from 57 about 2 miles West of where Fox Road / Silverbrook Road ends at 57. It comes out 0.2 miles to the West of South Beech Plain on Cold Spring, so you can hook right back on to the TMT easily. It looks a little less-used than Beech Plain, and turns into a 2-track for a short distance. It passes through what looks like some old-growth forest as it heads down to the valley floor, and passes by Clam Lake Reservoir which is a nice view.

What condition is Silverbrook Rd?

Did you mean to say East of Silverbrook rather than West? I'm redoing my track to include Silverbrook and Hammertown.

Thanks!

The only part of Silverbrook I was on was between Fox Road and RT 57, and a good part of that is paved. There were a few little washout sections, but if you're paying attention, it would be no problem. If I remember correctly, I believe I saw a "Road Closed" sign where Fox splits from Silverbrook (heading south), so it appears that Silverbrook may be closed right now - ?

No, I meant West of where Fox/Silverbrook and South Beech Plain meet 57 (where the highway department garage and the bar are). If Silverbrook was/is open, that may be a better way to stay on more dirt to get to Hammertown (but I've never been down Silverbrook all the way in that direction). Taking the Silverbrook route to the West would indeed put you on 57 with Hammertown to your East.

Laugh Update

It's been almost three years since I laid the route out and I've been wanting to revisit it for some time. A friend and I rode it today. I'm happy to report that it's as much fun now as it was three years ago. All the roads are open and in good condition. There are very few washouts, so it's still very big bike friendly.

I didn't take too many pictures as we were trying to get up to Wilmington, VT at a reasonable hour. It took us about 5 hours to do the whole thing from Winsted, Conn. to Greenfield, Mass. That includes nearly an hour for lunch. It's nearly 100 miles; we estimated 75-80% dirt.

My buddy Joe, crossing the Mass Pike

Curtin Road, still a favorite

My 08 KLR. I've added a Moab shock and Ricor Intiminator fork inserts. It really kept the bike planted on the dirt. Lots of fun.

Joe's 2000 KLR with 5900 miles. $1500 purchase price and $1500 in mods and it's about perfect.

Saw these two bikes at the Ashfield Lake House. The Norton had California plates. Both were loaded for the road.

I have a gpx file of the complete track, all in one route. PM me your email address if you are interested.
