Cool2 NH route

Hulk,

Here's a little cross pollination work in your thread for my NH route - the Hampster Ride.

I saw the link to your thread in your signature line once you posted in my thread.

Cycling event alert

My first post!

So great to see this GPS post of rides in my area. I just wanted to give you all a heads up that on August 23rd there is a cycling event that uses many of the dirt roads in the Ashfield to Greenfield section (and north of Greenfield as well). It's a big event with about 1000 riders. Attempts to ride this day may be slowed by slow riders on skinny tires riding dirt roads.

Here's the Web site for the event

Camping near Salem, MA

Afternoon,

Does anyone know of free camping or good areas to camp near Salem? I may ride there from Lexington this afternoon. Any place inbetween the two towns would do.

Thanks for reading.

Ran the southern half of the TMT this afternoon, got started too late for the whole thing. CT north to 143 in Worthington. Trail was in great shape, even on a VStrom wearing Anakees. Well, the dirt was in great shape - some of the pavement was in rough shape.

Nice day for it though. Wish I had time for the whole thing.

A handful of us ran the TMT earlier this year starting from the north end in Greenfield, MA going south to Riverton, CT, and then ran an alternate route (of also mostly dirt roads) to get back back up to Greenfield.

Makes it a nice loop of mostly dirt for a full day's ride, and just in case you want to run knobbies and use a trailer to get to either end.

Here's a link to the GPS file that we used: 2014_tmt.gpx (right click, save file as, etc...)

It was actually the second year in a row that we've run that same loop, it is that much fun. I'm not the originator of the return bonus route, all credit goes to Mr Bill from Wooosta.

Have fun!

Leon was with us, and even his KLR is overkill for these roads. I ran it on my ManStrom with just Shinko 705's on it with nary a problem.

It's just a few nice dirt roads, is all...
