A little history of S.N.P.J.

From Wikipedia:

S.N.P.J. is a borough located in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. According to the 2000 U.S. census, it has a population of zero, although the borough itself counted 14 residents in 2003.[1]

S.N.P.J. stands for Slovenska Narodna Podporna Jednota (Slovene National Benefit Society), a fraternal society and financial co-operative based in Imperial, Pennsylvania.

The society applied to have their 500 acre (2 km²) recreation center in western Pennsylvania designated as a separate municipality in 1977. The S.N.P.J. borough was created so that the society could, among other things, get their own liquor license.[1] North Beaver Township, Pennsylvania, the municipality in which the center was originally located, restricted the sale of alcohol on Sundays.

S.N.P.J. once had the distinction of being the least-populated borough in the state until a mine fire beneath Centralia made that borough unsafe to live in.

As of 2007, Centralia had a population of 9. I rode there this past weekend and there are still at least 3 or 4 houses being lived in.

Don't know when Google maps photos are taken, but note the green lawns.
Look close at the google satellite view, you can see smoke from the active fire! It's there!

That's usually around the time I come in. I might have to stay longer next year, especially if I bring both bikes.

View Centralia in a larger map
Can you explain how you inserted a google map into the forum? I have had little success so far. Thanks!

New tag.

In remembering 9/11, I wanted to throw some patriotism into this tag. This memorial was rededicated Veteran's Day, 2007. This "Honor Roll" was documented in the "Allied News". Happy Birthday Son, this one is for you.

Mercer County Bridge No. 1801 is on the National Register of Historic Places. This is Mercer County's only remaining covered bridge. The bridge is located on Township Road 471, approximately one half-mile east of S.R. 18, in Pymatuning Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. The bridge is situated in a rural area and spans the Shenango River.

Additional hint

Your significant other would more than likely like to ride along and stop at the large shopping mall nearby.
