Hey P'burghers

Slight Hijack, I am going to be in Pittsburgh next week and am thinking about stopping at Primante Bros. Is it worth it? Is one place better than the others, or are they all the same? Thanks

Mark

I'll confess up front that I have never been to the original Primanti's in the Strip District.
I've eaten at others and the food is not anything to get excited about (regardless of individual preference regarding coleslaw and fries on one's sandwich, the processed/pressed meat they use for what they call a steak sandwich is an insult to bovines the world over). As an experience, going to the original place for a late night meal after an evening of drinking/carousing is a right of passage (that I fully intend to make at some point before I kick off this mortal coil) and well worth doing. But as a regular dining experience, I think it's overrated.

Cheers,
Greg

C'mon Greg, don't piss on his parade. Everybody should experience it once, and what better place then the original:

Go for it Mark, you won't regret it.

Well shit, I really wanted to make a big to-do about going to that place for the sammich that the food network bragged up. I'm all broken up, I thought for sure I'd be eating the best damn food in PA, as well as meeting a few Steelers players.

When are you coming, Mark? If it's anytime soon and you're riding, some of the local taggers might move the tag down to the Strip for you

I'm from there, but I've never been to Primante Bros; as I hate coleslaw I don't see the attraction. BUT, if you in the strip district stop at Pamela's, best breakfast in town. http://www.pamelasdiner.com/Menus/Strip.cfm The pancakes are almost crepe like and very famous in town.

Never had breakfast at Pamels's Diner so I'll put that one on my list. As far as Primanti's sandwiches I'm the opposite I don't like their fries. I usually order either w/o the fries or just TRY to take them off. We usually stop at the Cranberry twp location on the way back from track days Beaverun. Fun place for a group. Mark_O let us know when you're going to be in the area maybe we can hook up with you for a bite.
