If Fred doesn't get there first I will try to get it. I have a perfect move already picked out.

I would, but Tommy got his tag from me, and I don't think it's good form to go grab it right back.

So...go for it!

Sorry guys, wasn't my intention to make it too google intensive. That's why I left the name unmolested two times on the historical marker. Regardless, maybe this'll help.

Happy hunting.

I agree completely. I quit grabbing tags because I got sick of playing the Google game. And I've said it several times here before. I didn't find this particular tag to be all that difficult, but many have been.

I guess I just don't find a single ounce of fun in trying to figure out where something is with Google and clues. The fun for me is riding...

Thanks for the reference to rule #2. I reviewed it and believe the tag is in compliance, you know with the name on the brass plaque in more than one place. None the less, it most likely would've required some sort of research (googling, encyclopedia, Bing even) to determine the location. So I don't understand what part some seem to have found so troubling, in as much as some form of research is required for nearly all of the tags, forgoing local recognition. Perhaps it is the reading.....
Perhaps not. So as I previously posted, I have posted the coordinates along with a map and an address. Of course plotting the coordinates will take some time. Oh my, how will you ever find time to ride?

I would also cite a rule if it's not too presumptuous of a noob such as I. Please refer to rule #7.

Happy holidays 🎅

#2 - Take the tag to a new location, get the photo and post it here. Give a few hints so the next person can figure out where the tag is located. Try to place the tags in interesting locations, maybe a bit of history that can be found down some nice twisties. Remember, the point of the game is not to make the clues difficult to figure out. It is about riding, not Googling.
Okay, let's use some common sense. We can't read Rule 2 as though only the last five words count while ignoring the rest. The rule specifically anticipates that we provide hints and clues, not addresses or waypoints.

So, what if the hints and clues are difficult to figure out? Just reply! I've have yet to see an inmate (including me) fail to give more hints or even the precise location of the tag when asked. If the hints and clues posted by an inmate are insufficient to determine where the tag is, by all means, post a reply and say so. That's what I do.

Tommy's tag was accompanied by more than enough information on his first post and certainly with the subsequent joking about "Brown" not being a primary color. Besides, isn't that proof that the hints and clues were not difficult to figure out? Inmates figured it out based on Tommy's first tag post.

I'm with Fred on this. This is a game that gives us hopefully interesting places to ride to, and for me part of what makes those places interesting is doing a bit of research. If all you want is a place to ride to, throw a dart at a map and you have a place to ride.

As for Doc's comment that got this whole rule #2 discussion going, I'm sure it didn't have a thing to do with rule #2. Using photoshopped photos for tag shots is just a pet peave of his that he considers bad form. He's all for using your bike or other object to obstruct the tag.

Fred, I get the hints and clues part. However, quite often the hints and clues aren't good enough. I'm not suggesting that we have to post coordinates as clues, but if they require followup questions, than they're not good enough IMO.

And regarding followup questions. Often, I'm curious how far away a tag is. If it's close enough, I'll get it. If not, I'll pass it up and ride elsewhere. I'm usually not willing to reply to ask for more clues so I can do more Googling, wait for someone to post the additional info, and then I can decide if I even have the time to get that tag.

Whether you have to spend twenty minutes on Google to find the place, or the coordinates are posted, there's nothing stopping you from researching the place you're riding to.

I'm debating with myself whether to chance a tumble on my drive to get down to the road. I think the snow is soft enough for some grip, but by the time I'd get back from Chambersburg it would be frozen hard again.

Since I am bored at work, I'll chime in. I like the "unknown" nature of the tags that don't come out and say exactly what and where they are. I follow the Jersey game from time to time and those guys are nutz. They post a picture of a regular old airplane and that's it. The fact that someone grabs it in 10 minutes is also pretty amazing but I digress...

I appreciate that this game is usually somewhere in the middle between that, and being completely no-brainer with coords/address posted.
