I read that article and agree - what a beautiful motorcycle. My SO just bought a Breva and I must say the eye to detail is visable everywhere from the paint to the backlight color or the gauges. VERY nice.

I lived in Italy for 3 1/2 years and longed to be old enough to move up from a Vespa to a Guzzi. If we hadn't had the Breva lowered so much - Im afraid I'd comandeer it regularly, hmmmm... maybe I need to get one for myself - you know an around town runner... yeah that's what I NEED to do.

The two things that jump out at me.....the 25A alternator and the piston clearance of .0025. Guzzi could have led the electric clothing and heated grip revolution! :):

the numbers on this aren't bad compared to some of todays cruisers, ie 1/4mi etc, sub 500lbs dry, almost 6" of clearance thats near what the new DL650 has, almost a dual sport! this as the test state was heavy metal, a 500LB is a middle weight at most. hmmmm, progress.....

My meathead brother and friends used to go to the Guzzi shop (Budshadts by the old Aquarius on 170 Aurora, seattle) and see how low they could tip one of these over (in the showroom) , sometimes it took a couple of them to right it up, the owner wasnt too attentive, 35 or so yrs ago.

Cool shop, Guzzi, Ducati, Maico, Sachs from what I remember, smelled like a shop, not one of theNordstrom 'er H-D superstores out now.

I have such a woodie for those old beasts. It's the lobed tank. It makes me all sweaty. I tried, in vain, to rescue one from a friend that had a love/hate relationship with one. He loved the bike, and swore to never part with it. But he hated taking care of it. I don't think a single gasket was keeping anything in anymore and the entire bike was black with filthy oil sludge. I suppose it saved him from ever changing the oil - he just topped it off as needed.

My poor beast is looking quite sordid as the rattle can paint is flaking off. With warmer and drier weather coming, I will have to get an actual paint gun warmed up and try a re-spray.
