Burkhard likes to make videos of his trips. He also likes to delegate. In this instance to Honda Ali

The plan was fairly straightforward. Ride along the coastal racks to Fethiye, then turn inland, find a forresters hut to overnight in then head back home. The coast road was nice for November

Past Butterfly Valley which in Spring is home to thousands of butterflies,

Then on past Oludeniz

........................Coastal route covered, it was time to head up into the hills and find a place for the night.

Burkhard had said on the phone that we would find a forestry hut to stay in overnight. Gunter, in a quieter moment with Jurgen, gave the impression he had heard all this before

What we found didn't quite match the mental image

The place did have cold running water though

Jurgen set about sawing some wood with a nail file

We sat around eating, drinking and talking nonsense

.................Not much to do out in the sticks once the sun goes down apart from putting the ladies to bed

and settling down for a night of sheer misery. With temperatures hovering around -5 degrees C the last thing I needed, and first thing I got, was a broken sleeping bag zipper. Ho hum, better get the thermals out. Forgot to pack them in my haste along with balaclava, thick socks and Isomat. Still, t'was a starry night Reckon I counted them all over the next 9 hours.

Dawn arrived, eventually. Time for some breakfast and a hot cuppa

...................Anyway, where is that pesky breakfast. Here's a guy that might know, the local Jandarma patrol commander

Aha, result. A kindly cafe owner let us take over his table and chairs so that we could have a breakfast picnic. He wasn't doing food at the time we limped in. Fresh bread, olives, tinned bratwurst stuffing stuff , hot tea and cold pepsi

Home straight. I had to get back home in a hurry. Apparently I wasn't the only one who had a chilly night. At home the central heating boiler had decided not to boil and George was in danger of catching a chill. The rush home was brightened when we bumped into Dawn and one of her relations out sightseeing with their partners.

Dawn is married to Chris who used to own http://taurustrax.com/ and now acts as a guide having sold the business. I had corresponded with Chris a number of times by e-mail in the past but we had never met. Today we did. Chris is in orange and until recently used to blast around the hills on a KTM 950 Adventure S. Much respect.

Cheers,

Dickyb

Mehmet has got a new ride. A 20 year old DT125 two stroke. We had to take it out for a ride

Zeki had it on it's back wheel

So did Mehmet

Momentarily

Psyching up for the big hill

Up in one

Met Mehmet coming the other way

Small bikes, big fun

Winter wonderland...................

The Germans have retreated back to the land of the lederhosen. Time to take a slow ride and see what there is to see. The pups were kicking off at the front gate, yapping at a new visitor to these parts. A young stork perhaps slightly lost.

............................Up in the mountains the first snows have arrived.

While down on the coast, 45 minutes away, it was still a balmy 21 degrees C.

With it being a Sunday a visit to church was in order. Passed some fluffy folk on the way.

Pulled up at somewhere suitable to utter a couple of Hail Marys and Our Fathers

in the small village of Belenli

A group of locals working on a neighbouring building encouraged me to cast off my biking boots and step inside. Glad I did.

The diameter of the candleabra at it's widest point fits exactly into the diameter of the ceiling decoration when viewed from underneath. (I was slightly out of line).

A tranquil place skilfully put together.

Ancient but modern.

Cheers,

Dickyb
