It's the lighting and the fact that it's a grooved aftermarket sprocket that makes it look that way. It's only very slightly hooked, but will be a throw away anyhow.

The only important thing to note there is that the C/S o-ring leaked oil. These o-rings should be replaced much more often than owners typically do it.

I'm expecting to find fairly worn intake valves in this motor. If the crank is at all dodgey, the cases will be split, a rod kit installed, and the rest of the gizzards inspected closely. The motor did run well, shift cleanly - only issue was oil leakage at the C/S.

The teardown is because it is a very convenient time to do it. Somewhere in Mexico would be much less convenient

Still up in the air.

I'll go 510cc if I have to - I want to get the bike on the trail soonest to dial in the suspension. I have extra motor stuff, so if the crank reveals itself, I'll build the 552cc stroker motor for it.

But that's OK - the motor is going to get some freshening up, since it likely has a couple hundred hours on it.

Sorry

The cs seal on my motor was leaking?

O-ring was flattened one too many times?

On with the accumulation of stuff to make the whole thing work....A box showed up on my doorstep today. And look what was in it......

Brett at ICW made me these monsters. I'd have never known, but Lastplace turned me onto this to solve my cooling system issues. These are made from three KTM RFS radiators. They've been cut, seam welded, and braced. They are huge - should add quite a bit more coolant to the system, as well as ~40% more cooling area.

GP I'm assuming those beauties won't just bolt on my 525. What needs to be modded for them to fit?

I can't take my 525 on the tight stuff over here in Thailand without it puking like a college pledge even with catch tank and factory fan kit.
