Inaugural North Alabama Dinner Attendees...

...Minus me (I was behind the camera)...

Even though there were just five of us, was still a good time.

Thanks for getting this organized SDS! We need to do this monthly or something.

P.S. - Tim, don't forget to look for me some snake handlers!

Monthly or bi-weekly is fine with me . It's a great way to get out and break the mid-week monotony. If somebody wants to recommend a good BBQ place I'm all for doing it again in a couple weeks.......Wednesday night in Boaz apparently has very limited potential for finding good food

PS.....my Mom said she'd ask my Grandmother about the snake handlers. Mom mentioned a couple names to me tonight, and a couple of locations, but she wasn't 100% sure it was still being done. I'll PM you with some details in the next few days.

Dang, I missed out. I have church on Wed. nights or I would have been there. I see you guys got to meet the infamous Ray.

Ray, what did you ride to the dinner? Is that the Zrex behind you. Also, it's the first time I've ever seen you without the Stitch.

Hope you guys had a good time and hopefully I'll be at the next meet-up.

I really like that Zrex Ray. For some reason, I thought you had the green version. I like both but that black/grey looks mean. I hope to meet some of you guys at the next get together.

Sorry I missed out, this turned into the worst work week I've had in a long time,

GSBS, have you read Salvation on Sand Mountain-Snake Handling and Redemption in Southern Appalachia? pretty good book.

Tophat BBQ Blount Springs ?

How bout Top Hat BBQ in Blount Springs area ??? Just down the road from Mr. DeBandi... I have never eaten there but here its great .....ugh just noticed 80 miles from Huntsville....but I could make it if we eat early enough to get back before its too dark

If locals know otherwise speak up....

Another option Big Bob Gibson in Decatur ??? I think they are open all weeknights ???

Top Hat...

...is right across the street from DeBandi and me.

Old place with some fine BBQ. The owner is out back at 5 each morning splitting up his hickory for the day's cooking. I've been eating there since the mid-60s and never have gotten any BBQ with fat on it.

They do close at 8 and this is a dry county, FYI.

Suits Me ?

Suits me ...I dont need to drink and ride ...But Im not sure about others....

I love some good BBQ and Ive heard about the place for years ....I checked and if I go down 231 its actually 63 miles from Huntsville....

Anyone else up for a North Alabama ride and eat ?? At TopHat BBQ ??? I think its close enough that some Bham guys could make it too ??

Any thoughts ? Comments ?

Im up for it ..if anyone else is, we can focus on a particular night ....
