Was one of you FF out there running as a Race Official in the Tour of California in Solvang. I saw the bike go by and said "Oooh, an '06," before I could get my camera up. Seemed like a sweet gig. Course marshall, not having to lug around a camera person.

Hello every one. I am #445 and I am absolutely new to ADVrider. I didn't know how unique these bikes are until I found this thread. Here is a picture of my bike. (Hope I can upload it). I bought a used seat and I am shaving it. So far I could bring it 2.5 inches lower. I will keep you posted about my LOW SEAT project.

Good luck with the low seat project.
Welcome to ADV and to the '06 SE thread. Be warned, it can be habit forming.

GS 1150 low seat

Hello Johnny Dakar.Thank you Eric for adding me to your list and thank you Idea Man for welcoming me. I loved your landscape photography.
After I bought my bike I realized how difficult it was for me to ride it. (I am 29" inseam)
So first I tried the stock (OEM) seat from BMW. It was just a bit lower but not low enough for me. I was still tip toe. Then I bought this second standard seat and tried to lower it as much as I could. I am doing the final cuttings tomorrow and then I will see how I can recover it. I appreciate your suggestions. Here are 2 pics to show the dept of the seat after the surgery. Be tuned :)

the blue surface is what has been removed.

What are you using to cut the foam? How tricky was it removing all those staples?
