very bad thoughts

I have had that same inner monologue! Your statement in red and alternatively, Ewan McGregor's voice sayin "So, whose idea was this then?"

Life;
Learn to ride, tour the country
Get bored with same old roads, start roadracing (get poor or scared or old)
Get a GSA...go adventure riding! BC, Mexico everything in between
Get a dirtbike to learn to ride the GSA better
Ride GSA MUCH better...but dirtbike WAY MORE fun!
Buy '06 GSA and make it a street queen, build XR650R for REAL adventure!

...shoulda started on dirt bikes a long, long time ago...'course I'd probably be dead .

Seriously, if you want to get good on your GS/A, get a dirtbike or rent one...ten hours on one with an experienced rider will = years of GS learning!

GS Weaver, mphoppe, , ericb67 and Idea man,
Thanks for all your tips and ideas. I am practicing almost every night and I feel I am getting a bit better after each ride. In the next few weeks I will be attending an MSF-Advanced course and then a Dirt bike course. Later if I can afford I will definitely go o the BMW course. I'll keep you guys posted about my progress. (Hopefully with some more fun pics.) Thank you all so much...

06 1150 ADV - First Rigging

Here are a couple of pics of the bike rigged to camp. Multiple 1150 GSA's of evolution ...still improving. This version is trying to figure out a good seat bag set up without removing the grab rail. The last few years I've been running the big Marsee tail bag. A couple more additons to the hardware as well. Just a few more things to do...like get the whole thing wired up for one...

that's just clever parking...

I think I'm secretly in love with 06 adv. I keep sneaking a peak at this thread when my '03 GS isn't looking.

Shhhh...

Rookie joins

Newby here, just signed up after lurking around for a while. I bought No. 576 back last summer when I moved to upstate NY (Albany), glad I found this thread. Thanks, Eric, for pointing me in the right direction.

I've enjoyed all the pics of everyone's 06's, gives me some great ideas down the road. Looking forward to the spring so I can get up in the mountains and do some biking / fishing / camping.

I'm thinking of hitting the rally this summer, maybe roll that into a longer trip back home to Mississippi. Sounds like there may be a big turnout from this group.

Welcome. And Cheers.
....And we'll need some pics.

The rally in TN does sound like a great time. Had I not mortgaged my riding future on a possible trip to Alaska, I'd be weaseling a way to get back there myself. TN is pretty and the people very nice.

There will also be an '06 SE presence at the 49er Rally in Auburn, CA in May and of course our own special rally in Oregon (highest per capita '06 SE ownership in the country) the last weekend in June (See Post #399). Hopefully some of y'all can make it out to that one.

Anybody know anything about #520? Supposedly repo'd from BMWFS and on Fleabay. It's not on the registry.

I don't know anything about it. It looks like it could be a nice bike with just a little work, and I think it's funny he referenced the registry in his ad.

Yeah, me, too. Looks like word is getting around. It may hurt him in the end, though. I sent the link to the auction to a buddy and he replied back, "weird, the website says the place is out of business".

That's funny, I never thought of that. I guess it could be taken that way.

I emailed the seller and told him who I was. I asked what he was looking to get for the bike. He told me he paid $12,300 at auction for this bike. I've been to a LOT of bike auctions... and if he paid that much it must have been a crazy auction day. He said he's looking for anything over that amount. I'm sure he is.

I LOVE these bikes, but with a dinger on the right side it seems like top dollar. I hope he gets what he wants!
